Housing restrictions not fair for individuals.

While I wont deny that I benefited from Individuals not being able to purchase houses because it allowed me to move from a small to a medium. I don't think FCs should have been given priority housing or housing at all. FCs are basically just glorified linkshells and are not really "needed" for progressing in the game. The fact that anything is gated behind FCs is kinda ridiculous.

I dont think its unfair that FC's can purchase first since I am also the same opinion that a large or medium plot for 1 person is a huge waste instead of a FC with 30+ members.
The question is now how they will handle individual sales once they decide to open the restriction, cause thats where things will get nasty and people will salt once again in the forums about not getting a house cause idk which reason.
Let's wait and see.

This this thread really degenerated. No the housing issue is not right...yes they know how to fix it, but I'm not going into it. I saved my money up, after taking a long time to do it, realized that in this game its housing wars, I do not participate in that kind of thing, I am now going to never buy one. Keep your housing, I won't fight for one in a game. Thought it would be nice, but nope its worse than actually buying one irl. Let down? Yes. But it now frees up my time to do anything but this. This showed me how a lot of players on this game really look at each other and how badly they do treat each other when given the chance to, but its not been very fun lately. Its been a shabby morning reality check. One maybe I needed. The word HOPE is a two edged sword, it can be miserable or great. One word with two momentous possible outcomes.

Well, in JP, the highest populated realms have a population that's similar to NA/EU's lowest. They will have a LOT less housing issues in general because of that.

Personally, I see the main fault of the devs in putting private housing into the wards in the first place. That is the one mistake they have made that keeps breaking everything and I see the large amount of vacancies on even Balmung as proof of that.

This is the thing they need to fix. They need to provide a decent alternative to the ward system for private housing. And I doubt they can do that in a satisfactory way without setting up an entirely new system, i.e. instanced housing.

I was more wondering about the attitude on those servers in regard to the whole housing system and the whole housing issue - I know they must have a shortage aswell, but was more curious if they're just crying as we do...

I feel thats only half of the fault - or only one of the mistakes. At first, when they opend the wards for personal houses aswell, it was still more or less fine - there were still open plots for FCs, if they wanted them etc.
What really went wrong is the inflation AND the price of plots going down instead of up - suddenly everyone could afford a house and everyone now felt like they should have one. At some point houses were supposed this real status-symbol. Having personal houses was fine, because to get even a small one, a single person had to put REAL effort into it. But yeah... lower costs and higher amount of gil in everyones pocket created the illusion that everyone was supposed to have a house...

I agree with that - and I do hope the rumors I've heard about them working on appartments that are having the layout of small, medium or even large houses, are true. That wouldnt solve the garden-issue (but maybe we could get furniture for that, aka: something you can have inside and still crossbreed), but would give everyone who wants to decorate the space to do so. Since we already have appartments and they'd "only" need expanding I could see them do that without tearing down the current system.
But as everything: That needs time - it sucks being asked to be patient, but I doubt theres much more one can do here.
I'm pretty sure neither Yoshi-P nor the devs are happy with this - but if its the best they can do right now... its the best they can do right now.

Relocation means that the old plot is then available for purchase. Relocation shifts the current housing stock, it doesn't diminish the current housing stock. Disagree with allowing personal relocation if you want, just don't use houses disappearing as an excuse to.

if they dont need them, then why is content locked behind FC housing. Explain please! If anything personal housing should have never happened and if it did.. not in FC wards.

Back when housing was first introduced, it was FC only.
They had stated that they were going to do personal housing that was different, and cheaper than FC housing.

That didn't happen.
They did the quick and easy implementation of just letting individual players purchase FC houses.

Had the apartments been implemented back then, we probably wouldn't be in quite this dire of a situation.
We probably would have even had better apartments, due to having years to iterate on them.

I'm not sure they can 'fix' it at this point.
The apartments are supposed to be the alternative to wards for individual players.

And, they can't force that issue without permanently restricting individual players from purchasing FC houses.
And I get the feeling that doing that would really rile up the playerbase.
(Especially considering some of the comments in this thread about the temporary restrictions)


The devs backed themselves into a corner.
And I don't think they can get out of that corner without pissing some people off.
