The existence of Vercure is primarily there for flavor and mitigation on the overworld. That's really it. BLM has Manaward and Summoner has Titan-egi and Devotion, if you want a comparison.
That said, Vercure can be useful, but most healers find the usage of it to be rather intrusive or an insult to their healing abilities, implying that they're bad healers.
