Yeah, that's the thing. Put the carrot too far away and people will stop bothering.
Which by the way RNG goes in this game it means an actual 20% to 30% chance, if not less.

Well the sooner you obtain the relic the sooner you can benefit from and enjoy the stats and since weapons replace each other so quickly, the sooner the better. It's certainly not the journey most people enjoy out of this quest, it's the destination.
Not many people enjoy grinding on content over and over, it's hard to blame them for not enjoying it since not everyone can watch Netflix at the same time like the ones who "enjoy" the grind.
Price of maps will skyrocket, I'll likely sell mine at first to cash in on some guaranteed gil, then do the new stuff later.
Unless you are doing Savage progression...why do you need it so fast?
This is what really gets me; people who have no intention (or, don't have the skill no matter what gear they have) to raid, but have to have the best gear ASAP. The 230 weapon vs a 220 weapon (even a 210) isn't going to shave a ton of time off an Antitower run if you don't know how to do your job well, no matter what you think (and, my alt, who uses a 210 weapon and a mix of 210 and 220 gear, DPS-heals experts better than most non-raider healers, even if they're almost full i230. Crazy, huh?)
And yes, I can understand for Savage progression; you want all the advantages you can get (heck, I can replace a few of my penta-melded accessories with 240, but its not worth it til I get my 240 pants). But I generally don't see these people complaining about having to grind something out ASAP, considering the long hours and all the effort they put into raid...doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but most complaints about this come from people who never set foot into Savage...
The answer is really simple. Just look at PF not even 48 hours after new patch. People already make some silly "No noobs, Fail=Kick" parties (true story, last big patch at the launch of Sephirot). A lot of players are using parsers when they go to primals or else in PF. So yes, the judge you. They don't care abou your skills, they care abour your stuff, no matter what. And as always, they ask for players with some absolutely crazy high iLV to go faster. That's why players NEED to be VERY well stuffed ASAP.
Those players are the first to clear it and are looking for other people in the same boat looking to farm. PF is likewise filled with learning groups looking for reasonable requirements. isn't true at all unless you aim to be one of those first clearers/farmers, for whatever reasons you have.
But they added a bigger shortcut- in this grind, if you have the gil, you can choose to substitute the weapon food with materia. That can significantly cut the grind, even if you only use grade I - III materia, which are dirt cheap.
Also it may be 228 stat points, so it could be whatever 228/3 (since each food is +3 to a stat minimum) is worth of food minimum, plus the +4/+5 bonus chance. And they did say the relic will have the same stats as an i240 weapon +3 grade V materia so, you're coming out ahead of the lore tome i240 versions on top of that. I think even the Novus was 75 Alex/materia but when it was finalized, you got bonuses added to your first two stats, so it ended up not being a total 1:1 ratio of items to stats.
The main stats were not included in the 75 materia infusion. You always ended with 75 points in secondary stats.
Here, it will probably be the same. The main stats will be on par with the upgraded lore weapon, but the secondary stats will be slightly higher, especially for Determination.
