Suggestion: Allow Free Transfers TO European Data Center

I wholly support this. Having enjoyed two free transfers myself Square has already set the precedent that it's not impossible (the first being the transfer during the Beta and the second when they set up the datacenters). I really don't understand why they didn't make it a two-way offer to begin with.

And people from NZ and Aus will still have bad latency, it's just now they have to move away from their friends on the EU servers if they want to still play the game. T^T I don't really want to leave my friends, but now I have no choice, the servers will literally be on the other side of the world.

I probably can't do pvp anymore either. It was good doing PVP with the EU players before because we ALL had latency ('cept those few americans on the EU servers), But now New Zealanders and Australians are at a serious disadvantage. There's nowhere we can go for our latency to be any good.

Also... I really don't want to leave my friends of 2 years T^T

I'm pleasantly surprised by how much this request has received support, even from those whom it doesn't directly concern. :)

Would be nice to know if this thread has been noticed by the community representatives and also when the actual datacenter move and maintenance will happen (before or after 3.1 maintenance or at the same time).

I'm am an na player and will not be transferring however I approve of what the op said give them a free transfer it's fair

I will not need a transfer but I agree that this is only fair.

You guys do realize the reason they're letting EU-NA transfers but not NA-EU is server data load, right?

They're trying to ease how much data they'll have to transfer so that they can have the servers back up as quickly as possible

Can just accept transfers once the dust settles, maybe a week after servers are back up incase they still need to iron out bugs. So this shouldnt be a barrier for SE keeping things fair.

The only reason I can see why they don't make it free for NA/JP -> EU is the potential volume of people. This way, you can potentially have people from 5 data centers move to one. The other way, you get people from one data center getting dispatched to 5 others. Of course they could only give the free transfer to people with EU currencies on mogstation and/or IP geolocalized to Europe (not errorproof but in the rare instance this is wrong you can always appeal).

I'm on Hyperion because when given the choice to go to the data center recommended to EU, I've ping'd/traceroute'd all the servers and found out they were all in Montréal. I stayed on an NA server because of the linkshell/friends I've played with since early access of 1.0 in 2010. Of course, I'd like to be offered a free transfer to take advantage of the lower latency.

I don't quite understand why some people are so hostile/vocal towards this request.
