Why people says AST is bad?

My AST is 60, and WHM is 57.

So far I much prefer my AST. I like the enhanced benefic. Especially with pugs who derp a lot.

Hoping WHM becomes fun again at 60. Been a WHM since XI and it's kind of weird that I prefer something else now, after so long.

I do think nocturnal stance could use some adjusting. And it would be nice if they could make it so disable isn't wasted on an auto attack.

...you mean the random proc that makes it instant? I have to say that's one of the worst parts, because we don't get a free Cure II. All we get is the ability to use it while moving every once in a while, which is not a change in mana efficiency nor throughput. :|

It doesn't have to be a free proc, but the current trait is just really weak.

Yes. That is what I mean. Lately dps, if it's their first time in a dungeon or not, have been standing in aoe and making little effort to get out of them if it doesn't one shot them. And ranged staying at max distance, making it so they don't get aoe heals.

There have been countless times where I've had to run across an arena and back, because I got out of the aoe but a dps didn't. Enhanced Benefic proc has been very useful for that. And it has not made me go out of mana unless the tank and both dps are derping it up big time.

I haven't done either of the primal extremes yet. Though it's not a big deal, I did solo heal Bismarck HM in a duty finder group. So I'm not talking about only 4 man dungeons. Waiting for WHM to be at 60 to do extremes so I can get a back to back comparison.

Yea I've used the proc to heal dps a lot so I don't have to spend much time away from the tank since it's nice and instant. I've also used it to help get a tank up quicker if he's taking a lot of damage. Benefic I plus instant Benefic II is a nice bit of burst. Although if a dps is taking continuous damage sometimes I'll just throw Synastry on them and keep healing the tank. Not only is it a great time saver to let me heal both at once but it also saves mana.

There is no increase in throughput with instant cast. The GCD is the same. :|

All it does is slightly alter the rhythm of the heals you are spamming if you're not using it for its mobility. In the rare case the burst is desired, Swiftcast exists.

You've completely misinterpreted what I was saying. I'm not talking about throwing all the worst classes into a raid group. I'm talking about the fact that sch/whm are better than ast by such a small margin that any group that has to have a sch/whm combo is an awful group and shouldn't be raiding.

There's a big difference between optimal and viable. Every class on it's own is the latter.

It's definitely not a small difference between SCH/WHM and something like WHM/AST. It's completely night and day.

Maybe if your ASTs are awful. Which I could see being the case since the class is still relatively new. ASTs are objectively the weaker healers, but crap like them being as different as "night and day" is a gross over exaggeration.

Yea if you're quit bad you need best suited class for the instance you aim for + vocal + best stuff.
It doesn't make you a better player.

Doing content with an AST vs. with a SCH or WHM is indeed night and day. It is many, many times easier, irrespective of your attempts to attack any players.
