Goad is an ability that needs to be judged by the ninja in the moment.

My priority goes:
1. Tanks (if they ask for it), especially wars.
2. Mnk/Drg/Nin depending on how long the fight will be going on for.
3. Brd if there isn't any melee dps in the party and a tank doesn't ask for it.

I'm on board with a lot of the tanks saying they shouldn't have to ask. Though at the same time, since I also tank, it's not difficult to realize that dps do have quite a bit to worry about (contrary to popular belief) and it would really help to maybe remind the ninja to use it.

As people get more used to the class you'll see it used more regularly.

Until then, help them out. Ninja is convoluted to a lot of people, as a lot think the rotation is hard.

It's really not melee rotations that throw some ppl off or assume its hard. Mudra casting in instanced content is not consistent between casts and also waiting for the Ninjutsu icon to change properly. You fail, you lose Ninjutsu for 20secs. A core function of your job.

I watch it out of the corner of my eye. Some are tunnel visioning it. It's something completely new and different to the norm of other jobs.

Upto 3 .5 sec casts to then perform an action. With server side checks like everyone else and however your connection is.

As someone who's played a fair bit of WAR, I can say right now it's easier for me to hit a Goad request macro than keeping track of someone else's TP.

And that's all that matters in a group. Whichever makes things go smoother for the group as a whole is more important than 1 extra hot bar space for a single person to worry about.

In our raids I generally get goad first. About 25 seconds into a fight. BRD runs out of TP very quickly. Significantly faster than MNK from our tests. Can go from full to zero in about 3:40 on a single target. Faster if there are adds to dot. The initial goad gives me an extra minute of full uptime at the beginning of the fight. Definitely a noticeable damage increase along with TA.

Our MNK receives a goad 3 1/2 min in. From there it'd generally continue back and forth between us unless someone else requests it. But our tanks are generally very good with their TP management and never need it.

Anyway. Just thought I'd mention that since I noticed someone saying BRD was last on their priorities. It is pretty easy to manage TP on BRD. Just hold back a few heavy shots when your buffs are all on cool down and TP is fairly low. Only after your first invigorate. Before then should be full up time. But if you're looking to maximize raid DPS you will goad your BRD.

Hold it right there. I have to dismiss your opinion right now on that Dragoon rotation is harder than Ninja rotation. It is just flat out wrong. The Dragoon rotation is just LONG, it is not even COMPLEX. By your definition of having the luxury of not needing to be positional, then MNK will be the hardest rotation of all since most attacks require positioning to have bonus, throw in GS on top to have a good DPS. Though, I am pretty sure if at this very moment, I say MNK rotation is so hard, someone will strike at me right away for saying such petty lies or playing favour cards. I am not saying Ninja rotation is hard, all I simply say is by saying Dragoon rotation is harder than any other melee class out there, or Ninja to be specific is just W-R-O-N-G.


And here is the separate part for those fast readers who read with the eager to response instead of stop and think for a second:

Right, I'm still really confused about this. I agree that if someone needs Goad and they aren't using voice communication, they should have a macro. But... when would this macro be used? Turn 8 PUGs where everyone is missing their mic? Every other situation I can think of either the person:

1.) Doesn't need Goad at all
2.) Is about to spam their highest TP cost move and if the NIN has any sort of brain in their head would realize that This Is When You Goad.

If there's a situation outside of speed runs where you have 0 access to voice communication with the rest of the party and someone is bottoming out on TP, then having a Goad macro would be useful. But I seriously can't think of one. As an easy example, how many people have a "TP SONG PLS" macro?

And Ninja is complex? What makes it complex? Hitting slightly more buttons?

Dragoon rotation can be defined in 3 20-ish second chunks each basically going [HT (combo) Phleb (combo)]. Ninja rotation can be similarly chunked into one 30-second window (beginning with Mutilate) that loops identically every time except for where you use Ninjutsu (and the opener has slightly different skill order).

NIN isn't even that complex bro.
