thats nonsense aswell since ppl can get their sand + oil from unlimited scob + st runs with 2.4
and doing hunts for 1 sand takes more time then pug-ing t8 or killing xande

I think part of the point there was to prevent it from becoming obsolete. New players should still get to play through that part of the game. We should get to go through the whole process of collecting i55 gear, then i70 gear, then i90 gear and so on, just like players who got to that point earlier were able to. Just because some other players have already completed the earlier endgame content is no reason why newer players shouldn't get a chance to do it as well. It's only obsolete to those who have already been there, done that.

Right; I guess the core argument is that I think it'd be better if new level 50s could get 10-20 ilvl a week, instead of an instant 40 ilvl in 4 hours. That way the dungeons, HM primals, etc. could be a more relevant part of the experience (especially if they get sync'd). At the same time, they'd would still be able to catch up in a reasonable timeframe, during which they'd see steady progress, be able to do tougher dungeons etc.

I think the hunt is fine as it is. Most i90 gear is quickly being outstripped and the more experienced players do not have the time or the willingness to guide newer players through the motions of lower content. this allows you to gear up to be prepared on your own without grinding in dungeons that you will wait forever in queue for. It's not any different then the change to darklight being a dungeon drop instead and that wasn't met with horrific cries of foul.
As new content and new gear is released, new ways to obtain older content is released to allow players to experience all the content, not just what the elitist few think is the only important thing and leave everyone else by the wayside. If you were to start a new character right now, with no knowledge of the game, these things would be a boon, not a detriment, so that you could gear up when you maxed out and experience the game instead of sitting around wondering why no one plays with your i55 character.

However new players will STILL have to do almost all the old dungeons and content because they have to progress the storyline to continue. That's one thing that was a mistake to my way of thinking. Basing story progression on mandatory dungeons. Because, yeah...its getting really hard to get groups for old content now. Some friends waited 2 hours each for Tam Tara and Copperbell regulars and never got groups. During NA prime time

Actually, S Ranks do give our Poetics, but it's minimal (I think I got 10 or 15 this morn). There's still Alexandrite and blood spattered mark logs to be obtained and they're usually more fun than trying to earn seals for ventures. The fruits to change chocobo colors are still there. All in all, they just removed the iLVL 90 gearing (pfft) from it. I think they did the right thing.

I'm surprised, I haven't had that issue here, during prime time, enough people are doing roulette that it's almost an instant pop even if you aren't a needed class. Off of prime time, my linkshell and free company hop to helping anyone that needs it, new or old. I can see if that's happening on other servers, where they can't get in, that it could be a problem, but I myself do not see it.

Yup, at least on Excalibur I haven't run into the issue (the LS and FC I'm in also like to lend a hand whenever possible). Factor in the recent addition of ROG/NIN, and that alone has prompted a lot of people (new and old) to "rediscover" earlier content all across the map.

Personally, I also find it useful when dusting off a job I haven't practiced in a while: it's not humbling, it's just good training - and plain ol' good fun. I still love Sastasha to this day.
