Is anyone else bothered by the lack of incentive for mediocre players to improve?

Yeah I get what you're saying. I mean I personally don't join parties like that myself for the same reason. But I also have self motivation to want to improve. Like being stuck at Titan HM sucked, so I read up on strategies for summoners for that fight, and joined learning parties. Basically, I got to a point where I did it and didn't feel like I was carried, and therefore it was a great sense of accomplishment. I guess that's what I meant really. People who want to get through things and feel like they accomplished something will do it regardless of what other "award" you get. But if they don't care, and don't mind being carried, then I don't think other rewards will motivate those kind of players to improve.

meh dont be mad because you took the hard way to lift that 1ton and the rest took a more simple way to lift it. The hard core will be hard core and try to beat it with minimal gear and for the challange. Some rather gear up then face it.

What really makes me the most mad is when people get upset when you offer advice. I had a Draz Darkhold party last night, where the BLM would just cast mostly sleep, and occasionally blizzard 3, fire 3, or freeze. Well I am also 50 BLM so I told him a simple rotation to try out, fire 3 then fire 1 until his mp was low then blizzard 3 to refill it just to help get him started.
Well then he says something about that he gets interrupted to much (don't understand that) so I brushed it off. We get farther in and I told him again, the rotation and to just try it out it will really help. Then comes the "just leave me alone and play" crap. Really? Finally I said look, your doing 0 DPS please just try it, I'm not trying to be insulting just helpful. Then he gets angry and leaves.
So frustrating when people feel no reason to take help!

Sounds like he didn't want to cast spells that have a longer cast time because he keeps getting interrupted. Which, if you have a tank that is keeping hate, shouldn't even be an issue. I also have BLM at 50 and never had problems with that.
