Trick question!
It will never be "your" group if you don't lie to get in.
This is so true.
I've joined too many unfinished dungeons because other people left after hearing it's someones first time. All you see in Shout are people asking for "experienced" players. How is anyone suppose to be experienced and get into those groups if none will take them.
I agree that getting an FC is a good idea but lets face it. A lot of FC suck. Most of them have their own team already they like to squad with. Hopefully you are lucky enough and they will take you along. Lying is a lot of peoples only option and it's understandable. Even if you start saying. "I just want to explain the fight." They feel as though if everyone knew they were inexperienced you'd blame stuff on them. If you believe they are experienced they can get away with saying, "My bad" or "Lag" without anyone criticizing them for being new at this. To many times have I seen wannabe elites saying "Uninstall because you fail." to new players. Some people just need time to learn. Watching videos and actually doing something are 2 different types of experiences.
Again, if there's all these people that can't get a group because there's only groups for "experienced" players.
Why the hell is it so hard for these unexperienced people to form their own parties?! Seriously, if the problem is so big there should be tons of newbies that look for Coil parties. Why oh why can't they form parties together and learn together? Why is it an absolute MUST to join those premades parties?!
The problem with this statement is that you cannot lie your way past specific mechanics and it becomes immediately obvious that you have done so to get in.
If you are trying to enter coil as a BRD under the assumption you will be using silence on High Voltage a group will become aware of you not doing this after a few times.
If you are a DPS in Titan who is not freeing people from Gaols this becomes very obvious.
If you are flying off the edge during Demon Wall repeatedly we'll catch it.
This list continues and reflects the statement i made during the initial post of this thread.
At this point groups will more likely become frustrated not because you are new to the content, but because you have presented yourself in a dishonest manner to join their group and will likely be less forgiving for it.Quote:
The more complex content becomes (mechanics wise) the easier it is to spot people who haven’t attempted said content before.
This deserves to be spammed in every response in this thread. Linkshells exist for a reason and it is such a helpful tool. Start a new party, make a linkshell, invite the top performers. Rinse and repeat until you have about 10 people. Before you know it, you just made a semi-static of good players that should get you through Turn 4. That doesn't even count well run FCs that have a pool of raiders and are actively managing each Coil static.
The only time I will even entertain the idea of bringing a newcomer into one of my static raid groups is if most of that static raid group is new. Resources are provided for understanding mechanics (in the form of Youtube video tutorials) and leaders are available for additional questions, but from there it's up to the group.
Any sort of initiative seems totally lost on the upcoming Coil raiders. It's potentially a side effect of all of the Titan HM sales, which I do not regret making very popular at all. People just need to come down much harder on those who basically request to be carried through content.
sometimes when i join a DF group i will say "o hai guys im new here anything i should know??" you'd be surprised how many jump ship before they even realize that i have my relic +1 and full DL. i think its funny to see how much people start sweating the instant they think they might have to explain something to someone new. personally i like teaching people dungeons, it makes the wins that much more rewarding.
I actually agree with almost all that you have posted although i know a lot of people are hesitant when it comes to starting up new groups, one of the great thing's about being an FC / LS is the ability to draw from the experiences of others when it comes to trying things.
As long as people aren't being thrown to the wolves when it comes to attempting content most probably wouldn't mind starting or leading their own groups when they have a person or two who has completed it around to show them the ropes on a personal level, I'd like to assume that most people aren't asking for a carry but merely some guidance or a point in the correct direction.
I think we all know the frustration of paving our way through content for the first time, and to be honest one of the issues i have with coil is that I'm unable to go back and help other groups when they're struggling.
Because once you have Relic/DL - your gear means nothing again until Turn 5. Given that low threshold of gear (and yes, that's low) - it's all skilled based.
Not surprising that experienced groups don't want to deal with a new player. If you think gear will carry you through Coil - haha, no.
If you love teaching so much, why aren't you joining new groups? Also, all the teaching you need is on Youtube so....again, low threshold.
I believe that is intended. My guess is that Yoshi wants people to organically pass the content on their own merit, unlike Titan HM. I agree with that design decision.
Coil really isn't all that hard when you understand the mechanics. Mechanics are easily taught via videos. From there it's just execution, which *shouldn't* be hard. Yet for whatever reason, it is for a lot of people.
