Amount of worlds and how it will impact over time

Now.. i dont mind them putting up more servers etc. to maintain the amount of people. However games including planetside 2, aion, WoW (well..cross server areas fixed this) and some more games, ive had alot of games that went on and instead of improving their exsisting servers they kept adding servers. The problem with this is simple... will you still have the same population in 2 months?
As seen in PS2 for example.. they first add servers to maintain the population.. after a while is a massively spread out community at which all servers are low-population where you are able to wander around for 10 days and not see a single player.. meanwhile the servers have problems clientsided connection etc.

If they have thought out everything and came to the conclusion that there is no other option then adding worlds.. fine with me an np. But do not add them just because you need some "temp fix" which will bring more problems in the long run :P

I totally see your point but what else can they do? Not allow customers to play their game? Drag down everyone with log-in issues and a laggy game?
I think that's even worse from a business standpoint. Also, I wouldn't mind a slightly less populated world.. It's too many people that I (for instance) don't get that The Shroud vibe.
