[Suggestion] Retainer Tabs and Market Wards

I'm continuing on with my thoughts provoked from another thread about not ruining the economy with an Auction House. What I'd like to explain here are some of my ideas on how to improve the markets we have now without the implementation of an auction house or an item history.

Currently with the system, on our retainers we have 10 slots for selling items we have to sell, or purchasing more of an item we already currently have. One of my suggestions is to have two separate tabs for this. That way we have 10 slots for selling items, and 10 slots for purchasing items.

Another thought on this topic is being able to select an item you wish to buy without owning it, and the number of which you wish to buy. If I want to buy a 10 blacklip oysters and I have 0, why can't I still try to buy some?

(Also, I think it would be beneficial to have an option where you can continue to buy an item and not only 1, 5, 10, for a set amount. Example: WTB infinity blacklip oyster for 1,000 gil each. People can continue to sell it to me until I run out of gil. In the event you run out of gil, people can no longer sell to you and your buying offers leave the search feature.)

This idea would also require updating the retainer wards search feature not only to search for what people are selling, but also the option to search for what people are buying. That way it is easier to get an idea of what people want to buy and helps to drive the community economy.

And even though in this system scenario, there is not an item buying history, people could still clearly see what people are selling and buying items for currently which can help stabilize the prices of things as the items are available. Supply and demand anyone? =)

With this possible outcome for the retainer wards as well as the possible 'luggage' implementation idea I had in my other thread, I think that the buying/selling/ and economy of FFXIV could be more easily accessible and regulated.


Any other further ideas from anyone? Anything here you think could possibly be improved upon or faulty?

I would really like some feedback on this idea if people think it would be good or not. ^-^;

I haven't been playing too long, but from what I can see there is no "mailing" system. If I have somehow failed to see it while playing, then nevermind. lol But it seems that retainers would be an excellent medium for this, too.

I like the idea of retainers handling the sale of my goods and holding onto them as needed. And their use could very easily be extended by being able to specify whether or not you would like the item you are placing in the bazaar to be for everyone or a specific person. In example, say I wanted to give a friend of mine some gear, I give it to my retainer, place it in the bazaar for free and enter in my buddy's name. Then when he/she is on later, they could have a message sent by either me or an npc linkpearl that just lets them know there is a retainer in x ward with items for them. This gear/item should only be visible to them and not pop up in the item counter search, they could find the retainer by the message received.

Current system doesn't bother me but more convenience is always nice.

Agree with this one. Stupid we cannot 'seek item' we do not have. It is the reason most of us seek an item because we don't have it. If we don't have it and cannot seek item then WTF!!

I agree with this one too. List of buyers would be great to help the economy and bring to player to player meeting/trading.
