Can't get PS3 to update

The PS3 is updating then just stops at different times, download speed goes to 0.0 and the Time estimated goes from 22 min to 3456 min and up. Then says connection to server lost. My PS3 is up to date, connectivity is excellent 97% and I have never had trouble with downloads before it just happened after the update. I can't get it to finish the update because it does this at different times and never finishes so I can't get back to game. I wish I could download from USB from PC and place it in my PS3 to download manually :(. I don't know if it will ever let me get back on.
