I think it is important for an MMORPG to have a lot of variety, and colors can give a lot of it in a simple way.
But I also agree that the classic look of AF shows something. Should it be sacrificed for variety?
At first I think with WHM in mind, YES!!!
Be able to change the red color into any other color would be really nice (while keeping the white always the same), and shows a bit more of the color my whm loves.
But then I think of a BLM in a pink outfit, and think NO!!!.
Also a paladin with black armor wouldn't feel right....
Maybe for AF just little details could be changed in color?
For example the white mage outfit I would like the white color to always stay white, but the red color could be changed, in my opinion.
The warrior could change the red part also, and the BLM the purple parts...
But with BRD, MNK, PLD and DRG it would be much harder... :/
I guess for AF they better could go with some different AF sets, like in FFXI...
I also like the idea that if you are in a certain LS, or free company, you could all walk in certain colors. Of course you can decide to wear something else then AF, so I hope for lot of options in armor, and not 1 best armor with best stats. -
