Porting to the PS4?
Hello everyone :)
With the launch of 2.0 ARR for PC and PS3, although it looks amazing, some people are still complaining about the PS3's limitations, even some of the team have stressed here and there the hardships or transporting things to the PS3 and the PS3's memory and blah blah blah.
That being said, I was just wondering if in, lets say a few years or less, the PS4 is released and just like everyone thinks, its graphics and gaming are on a whole different level than the PS3 - would they be able to update FFXIV:ARR to the PS4 and make it even better? Or will it always be limited to how they made it for the PS3?(Knowing PC games can always be updated and made better)
If anyone knows if they have spoken about this already please reply! If the devs could even give a response that would be awesome too! Thanks~

no one knows, but it is a possibility, we will have to wait and see how well FFXIV does on PS3 and when they actually announce the PS4 to see what will happen.

As long as the engine is scaleable I don't see why not, like the DX11 features they want to implement in the future will not be possible on the PS3. But as far as content goes I don't think they can make stuff that only the PC/PS4 can handle since that would exclude a lot of PS3 players.

True I didnt think that when the PS4 comes out that EVERYONE will have one, they'll probably have to still manage it for the PS3 for a long time :\
-
they made the graphic engine to be flexible for the future

These guys are still trying to get ARR out for PC and then PS3, and you're worrying about the PS4? I wouldn't worry. FFXI was released for PS2 and ported to Xbox 360.

iirc, a few months after the PS3 was released, there was an update that allowed XI to be played on PS3
-
Im no where near worried lol, Im just curious..

You can have your PS4 version if people can have their Wii U version.
Anyway, won't they be compatible? It doesn't need to be ported, they could just detect your console and change some graphics settings depending on which one it's installed on or something.
