Windurst Arena "Fix"
Why was the arena ruined for everyone instead of a toggle in the Accessibility settings for anyone who needed changes for motion sickness?
This was legitimately the one arena from FFXI I was most looking forward to, and it looks so bad and generic now that I kind of don't want to go back into that raid knowing that was taken out of the game. I was so happy we got it, and then it only lasted a week and I'm really sad about that.
I agree that changes need to be made to assist those who have difficulty with arenas like that, but could it not have just been a quick toggle?
-
I agree the difference from before has dimmed the charm. It was next to invisible before, and now it's opaque. (You can still see a little bit?)
But I'm happy people got the change to help with accessibility issues. That's more important to me.

This was *the most iconic* arena from XI and the "fix" completely kills it. I hope it's a temporary one while they work on a better looking and more permanent solution.
As a long time XI player, the final boss might as well not be Promathia without the arena he's fought in.
-
I do agree it should have been some kind of accessibility toggle rather than a change to everyone.
I'm glad it's not entirely opaque, it's a startling change that doesn't give the same scale that XI did for the fight arena.
-
If people got motion sickness from the previous version and needed an adjustment then fair enough, but that sort of thing should always be optional. The arena has been ruined for everyone else now, doubly so for FFXI fans. I understand they can't add a toggle for every little thing but perhaps they could add a toggle to the options labeled "reduce motion sickness" and just put all changes like this under it.
-
Yeah, I too am disappointed this wasn't an accessibility option. The menu exists, the devs really should use it.
-
Just chiming in to also express my wish to preserve the old arena in some way. If a toggle doesn't work, would making the arena transparent outside of battle be an option for g-posing or just generally admiring?
I completely understand that some players experienced motion sickness or vertigo while playing, so I agree that accessibility accommodations need to be made. I just wish there was an option for those of us who don't need the accommodation to appreciate the old arena.

The arena looks like trash now. If you get motion sickness, you can actually get used to it, or just avoid the raid altogether.

In the original game you had pink glowing footstep effects on the floor, I wonder if something like that would help people not have vertigo or whatever the problem was while retaining the look of the arena?
