Back again.
I did read a lot on the internet about how to obtain a master book III for crafters, but it seems that depending on patches and stories, the way to obtain those books changed over times and I couldn't get a clear answer.
Question: As of today, how do we purchase a master book III? Is it with still with white scrips? Or no more? And if no more with white scrips, how then?

Master books III and higher can be purchased from a scrip vendor using whatever the lower scrips are. As of Dawntrail the white scrips have been retired and the lower scrips are now purple. When the next expansion comes out, the purple scrips will be retired and orange will become the lower scrips.
Yeah, any scrip exchange NPC should have you covered. Idyllshire, Rhalgrs Reach, Limsa, Gridania, Uldah, etc. They all have the same menu. At any given time there are only 2 types of scrips(for crafters - gatherers have their own 2 and adventurers have a 3rd) that are attainable and spendable in game. Anything you do with collectables(including custom deliveries) will currently reward purple scrips until you get to level 100 recipes, then orange scrips become accessible. As Rongway said, next expansion theyll retire the purples, start awarding oranges for turn ins below the maximum level(110?), allow you to buy anything on the vendor for oranges instead of purples, and put a new color on whatever that highest level will be(while introducing new max level things that can only be bought with said new color). So find one of the exchange NPCs, open their menu, pick "Crafters Scrip (Master Recipes/Materials/Misc.)", then the 2nd drop down menu will have a ton of things you can look at - including Master Recipes I which has books 3-9 for each class. Its 2 books per expansion, so book 3 and 4 are level 60 recipes, 5 and 6 are level 70, etc. Good luck!

I found first today the time to care again about this. I visited scrips exchange NPCs in Idyllshire, Rhalgr's Reach and The Crystarium with same outcome everywhere: They have only master recipes I and II, but not master recipes III.
Therefore my question: Is there something to do to unlock master recipes III, so that it's added to the vendor available books?

I cancel my question. Don't ask me why and how, but "somehting" happened. I'm in Idyllshire now, and once back on screen after posting in the forum, I did retalk to the scrips exchange vendor and to my surprise, her list of books has changed: she now doesn't have any book I and II anymore. It's replaced with a list of book III and IV... :eek:
I can't pretend to understand what happened, but I don't care, I'm just happy. The case got solved while I was posting here. Call it magic... :cool:
Books 1 and 2(along with 1 or 2 others) are special, and need to be traded for in Mor Dhona. The rest of them should work just the way youre seeing now. Check the scrip exchange NPC, peruse the list and buy what you need. Glad whatever issue you were seeing is resolved.
