Space Exploration and how it could improve from Island Sanctuary
Here are a bunch of ideas I have for Island Sanctuary 2, that I think could be improved upon.
1. Bases should have more landmarks with different functions. What if there was a special landmark that let you display various achievements throughout your history as a player. I think it would be neat for things like that to exist. They wouldn't just be hard to obtain achievements, but various things from throughout the game to make it fair, and represent the type of player that player is. Adding a unique mark to their base.
2. I think the base zone should still have wild areas to explore solo. They are making this new version a more multiplayer experience, but I still want to be able to gather materials alone. I think the solo playing mindset isn't a bad thing. Sometimes doing something alone is rewarding, and healthy. I do think there needs to be equal incentive to NOT be alone at the same time however. A good balance to get people to work together, but also to maintain the relaxation type of content would be awesome. I don't like when too many solo activities take over the game, and make expansions feel empty. I miss the feeling of playing with other players, and going on adventures with them. That's what makes an mmo, but I also sometimes want to take breaks, and do things by myself. Balance would be good for this content.
3. Stop making it so we can only play one song on a base. It's annoying. Then again, the entire orchestrion system needs to be upgraded regardless. The amount of songs on the island sanctuary is too short, but so is the ones in our actual housing.
4. MAKE INSTANCED HOUSING PART OF THE SANCTUARY/SPACE EXPLORATION. We know from leaks this possibly was planned for Island Sanctuary, but it never happened. Why not? Can they still add it? Because that would be awesome. If not, please add it to whatever the new base is for the Sanctuary 2.
5. I want more than just one place to explore. One of the flaws with the Island Sanctuary was that you only had the one island. I had imagined that we would have explored the other islands in the cieldalaes to bring supplies from, or perhaps even distant islands from all over the world. Its a trope in some Harvest Moon/Story of Season games to offer voyages/flights to far away places to bring back more items, and I think that this kind of a feature would of suited the Island Sanctuary to give the gathering more variety. It didn't need to be a lot of biomes, but a couple of them in addition to the ones we already had would have been great to make it less repetitive, and more relaxing~
6. The farming was too small, and I think could of been expanded on. There should have been more plots to raise crops, and more function-ability on automation. The animal storage on the island was also too small, and made choosing what animals you wanted way less fun.
7. MORE SPACE TO DECORATE PLEASE. 90 items is not enough with such a wide space. I feel let down like I can't really do enough with my island. This is the case with all outdoor spaces in various housing like systems across the game. I hope the upcoming server upgrades bring more space, even in future minor updates to the sanctuary. It should be more like 200 at least.
8. Mounts. There was a lot of talk on having mounts on display, and not just minions. I think this was wasted potential, and Square Enix should have listened to this feedback for the sanctuary.
9. There were complaints about mammots, and though they are cute, I do agree. I wanted to move in real people to the island. Perhaps our base could be some kind of a space colony, and we could pick from different types of people from through Etheirys to bring to the base. Being able to make our own "town" is an honest dream of mine, and I hope that it could be realized. Plus colony building is a fun trope.
