Flame Lieutenant's Cudgel

Hi all,

As you can see I do not post often on the forums but this recent curiosity has moved me to come here to seek the opinions of others. The general consensus is that the Immortal Flames got shafted for their THM cudgel at the lieutenant level.

I wanted to see if anyone had any other thoughts on this weapon? Why is it the ugly duckling stat-wise compared to its contemporaries? Why the seemingly random boost to accuracy? The major penalty to mp? What was the dev who made this item smoking and where can I get some?

But srsly, any thoughts?

The mag acc is pretty good but the rest looks like crap, since when does BLM need HP?

I know right? And Earth resistance? Last time I checked Titan is still on vacay livin' large and in charge.

This is interesting. I thought Immortal Flames got the best Lieutenant Cudgel. I am Immortal Flames and got my cudgel pretty soon after it came out and use it all the time.

The other two Cudgels are also good. The Storms get one that boosts Int AND Fire. Makes AOE damage on crowds quite nice, and thus is good in most dungeons.

The Serpent's does get an Int and Enfeebling skill boost plus a big boost to Ice. I think this makes the Blizzara attack much more powerful?

Thank you for replying Shayla. I took another look at the cudgel and truth be told I could see the utility in its purchase. I guess the stats affixed to it just seemed so random. I really like the way it looks so I think I'll give it a shot too.

I'm planning on getting the cudgel, personally. I dunno about you but I never have issues with MP on my BLM so extra survivability with more HP is much more useful IMO. You should look at the big picture to recognize the utility of the cudgel. For anyone like me using the Moogle staff, switching to the cudgel adds even more HP and lets you use the Flame Sergeant Targe for more HP and INT on top of that. The cudgel has so much magic accuracy on it that there is a good chance you won't ever have to wear any other magic accuracy gear and can probably eat magic attack food on stuff you needed accuracy for before.

Also @ Asiaine: Yeah that Serpent wand is mostly for Blizzard/Blizzara/Freeze. In any fights where Bind is useful, feeling more confident that it will work without fail is wonderful, and the added bonus on top of that is just swell =P The insect motif on the serpent mage items is great too.
