Backseat healing

I'm talking about Kardia and, specifically, how bad groups are in regards to sages. I've done plenty of roulettes as white mage - people don't whine when I don't have 100% uptime on regen. Astrologian? If I'm late on cards, DPS buff (divination) - crickets; no one cares. But by God, if I take one step without throwing the Kardia on the tank, they turn into the biggest whiners on the planet.

I usually throw it on the DPS or other healer for raids when I need to slowly heal up someone not taking continuous damage. I save the big heals for keeping the tank alive. If the tank wants the Kardia, they need to suck at their job bad enough to where I need that extra healing (because keeping them alive is priority). Kardia, otherwise, is probably my most often-pressed heal-related spell.

So yeah. I had to vent a little. I spent a week playing Astrologian and my first day back to playing Sage and the very first group I ran into did this. No other class have I seen this sense of entitlement from others where they feel the absolute need to tell someone how to play before the dungeon even starts.

But the tank is literally the only one that should need kardia .... everyone else gets healed as you use an aoe heal after boss does a groupwide damage.

A dps should never need a kardia, they need to pay attention and not get hit instead.

You never need to have a 100% or even 50% uptime on a regen heal.

Your co-healer and the dps should be healed when you heal yourself with AOE heals.
Unless the DPS stand in Bad and get avoidable DMG, then you need to put something on them.

Kardia should almost always be on the MT, because it passively heals the DMG he gets from auto attacks.

There is just one case where it is useful to put it on someone else and that is in p8s2.

It's not entitlement so much as just a "Why not use your free resource?" You'll see equal annoyance towards tanks that don't use their tank stance even if they're outdpsing the damage-dealers and do not therefore need it to hold threat.

There's no point at which Kardia shouldn't be up. There are some rare times where it's better off on someone other than the tank --usually in place of spending an Addersgall if a DPS takes a flame-bath or gets hit with a random-target damaging mechanic-- but for the remaining 90+% of the time the tank is the only one who can get real (non-redundant) out of that free resource.

I’m in the no-man’s land camp of saying the Kardia is 100% optional especially in dungeons. Most tanks don’t even need our full kit and most sages drop it automatically on the tanks but never use Soteria anyways. And as a tank as long as I’m alive I’m not gonna care what so ever

That’s the issue here, people act that dungeon content requires everything and I honestly find it cute. When the party starts wiping then I’ll give it my all otherwise stop pretending preschool is a college course

Do need to have 70% health in The Praetorium for Gaius last attack. I have seen many times healer and dps die from it when their hp was at 60%.

I'm in the same boat. Dungeons are whatever. Oh, sure, I'll grouse that I'm top DPS as a healer or tank, but does it *actually* matter? Haha, no. Oh nooooo the dungeon will take a whole two or three extra minutes! So terrible~
