Mac requirement question

Hi, Just writing to get some reaffirm clarification of this line from the requirements.

" iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) or higher
* Models utilizing the Apple Silicon chipset (such as M1) are not supported. "

Does that mean if I get the new iMac M1/M2 installed with Monterey, the game would not play? so Is it better to not have Monterey installed and just stick to Big Sur?
