How exactly does bidding for a house work?

Since this continues a running theme of this game not coherently explaining bloody anything. I have absolutely no idea how housing works and am once again resorting to seeking external aid for something that should be clearly explained in the game.

So am to understand that the housing system was changed so that you now bid on a house? Great. How do I bid on a house? No bloody idea. I go to a placard in front of the house and click on it. It opens a menu which lists the price and explains if it's open for bidding to FCs or individuals, or open for bidding at all. However, even when it IS open......I can't bid. There is no prompt. Nothing. No option whatsoever. All I get is a number of people who have participated, and the option to view lottery results.

Take this random house I'm currently looking at. It says 11 participants in the lottery. However, when I click on results, it says nobody has participated in this lottery.

So......what exactly is going on here? How do ACTUALLY bloody bid on a house? Why does it say it's open for bidding yet not let me bid? Why does it say there are people participating then lottery results tells me nobody has participated? Why is this is bloody confusing and incomprehensible? How do I just bid on a bloody house can somebody please tell me before I lose my goddamned mind.

Basic idea is you pick a house you want, either for a FC or personal, them put down the full amount of gil needed to buy it. After that you wait until the winners are decided. The bidding period is 5 days, the results period are 4.

You may only bid on 1 house at a time. If you win, you get the house. If you lose, you get a full refund of your gil.

If only there were like five news articles from Yoshida posted on the topic... Oh, there were.

no clue what happens if you win the plot and dont put down the house--lose the plot AND your money?

I would assume that the same happens that has happend before they introduced the lottery: You'll lose the plot. And if only because you only keep your plot/house if you enter your house (as in the building, not the yard!) once every 45 days. If you never build a house, you dont have one to enter to reset the auto-demolishen timer and will lose the plot for that reason alone.

Yes you'll lose your initial investment on the bid and the plot rights. And the house goes back up for sale. Next bidding cycle. Think you get a week to claim it otherwise goodbye house and money.
