Can we please do the ARR Relic weapon quests without having the weapon equipped?

Just as the title says. I think the whole chain is tedious and needs some rework now that we're so far from ARR content, but making it so it can be done without having the weapon equipped would be a huge help at the very least.

Having the rest of your gear upgraded largely makes having a different weapon not super necessary to speeding things up, at least for dungeon runs. It would be convenient not to need to equip the relic, but that's likely not gonna be a change that's very high on their priority list.

The relic quest is supposed to be tedious, it's a status symbol for the players who completed the quest line.
If it was easy everyone and his brother (or sister) would have one and it would diminish the effort it takes to aquire.
And, how are you supposed to strenghten the weapon if you aren't using it?

The same way we do relics since Stormblood? Feeding "thingamajigs" into Gerolt.

It doesn't change how challenging it is to complete, just it prevents having to swap gear out every time you're about to do something involving it. I doubt it would take much effort to change it since it's just changing the quest requirements. That and it makes it more consistent with the later relic weapon quests that came out.

Create 2 profiles on your Gear window, one for the normal, and with the artifact weapon. Easy and fast.
