A tribute to The Feast

Today is the last day of the ranked mode of The Feast and I wanted to write it a little send off, all good things come to an end and this is no exception but I feel sad about it but also thankful at the same time. For me the Feast will be that game that I look back on years later and raise my glass to, will remember the good times with friends and watch old YouTube videos for the nostalgia. FF14 is fantastic as a whole but there’s just no beating the feeling you get when the queue pops, the rush of nerves, or when you win that really close game. It’s dynamic and crazy and I couldn’t get enough of it. I’m not the best player by far but I’ve beaten the best and lost against the worst but each game has been fun as hell!

Mostly though I’m thankful for the people I’ve met along the way, I’ve made a lot of friends through the Feast and the PvP community has been very welcoming. It’s a tiny community but it’s a very close knit one, they invest so much time to playing ranked or with each other, I’ve never seen another community like it. People organise fan made tournaments with real life prizes, professional Twitch streams and they even do random teams so the best players don’t always win plus Friendly custom games at the weekends so we can all have a laugh stress free from the ranked environment.

I’ll be sad to lose the game mode coz I’ll be sad to lose the community so I hope it rolls over to the new Crystal Conflict. The Feast has never been about the rewards, it’s been about the people and the game. I have high hopes for the new game mode and I hope a fairer reward system will bring in new players so the community grows.

So today being the last day of the final season I do raise my glass to The Feast, it really changed my life of playing FF14 and my only regret is that I didn’t find it sooner. I have high hopes for Crystal Conflict and I hope it lives up to them!
