Communities ingame
I'm a relatively new player to the game. I've played a little over 900 hours by now and still have much to learn
But I can't get over the in game community systems. I'm talking about the Linkshells, CWLS and Fellowships
So far I got a couple doubts on these systems I would like to know if anyone can clarify or justify them to some extent.
* Why are fellowships a thing?
- I honestly don't see a point in them existing if there is no easy way to organize or chat with the people member of it.
* Why doesn't the CWLS have more slots?
- Since the fellowships have 1000 slots and it is also cross-world how come we only get 64 slots on these
* Are "local" Linkshells still a thing?
- From the info I've been getting from more veteran players in my FC and CWLS no one seems to know if they are gone or not. Cause they don't appear to have an in game menu but they still appear in the FFXIV website.
* Why not fuse all into one?
- If the slots issue is a system data management problem why not condense all systems into one resource with less confusing menus? And while at it throw a FC calendar for events, no? Ok ;(
If anyone could help me with some of these questions I would appreciate the veteran insight, maybe from previous similar questions.

Fellowships are meant to be a way to find like-minded players interested in the same things. People meme them but they do get used for that and people do regularly find like-minded friends to play with using them. For example, they have been used to find statics, recruit for new discord servers or linkshells, find people who speak the same language, get tanking advice, advertise discord servers. They fill up to 1,000 quite quickly and new or casual players do engage with them even though veterans meme them.
CWLS doesn't have more slots for the same reasons as everything else being limited. Either you can't carry around more data without it causing problems for the server, or there is a lack of disk space.
Local linkshells mostly died out because of discord, but they are still used for hunting and you can start one next to a calamity salvager.
The reason that linkshells and CWLS have a different menu seems to be because linkshells had too much spaghetti code.
