Set bonuses of Grand Company items

Does anyone know if the GC items we could buy before 1.22 count towards having 3 items for the set bonus?

For example I have a Flame Sash (1.21), I'm going to buy a Flame Ring (1.22), that's 2 items. When I also wear a Flame Tabard (1.22), will that make 3 or 2 Flame items?
This may be a silly question but I would rather be sure before I spend 6,000 seals on something.
