TLDR - Don't do it (but you will anyway).
We're probably going to have some untested balancing changes, we just came off the back of a 4 month season (around 2 months+ longer than a season normally is); I know North America and Chaos only saw like 3 weeks of activity, but otherwise the rest of the DCs did remain active the majority of the season.
In no universe is having a back to back season especially one with changes a good idea. I'm almost on the verge of advocating the removal of exclusive rewards at this point because there's zero point competing for them when the cutoffs are so low on Western DCs you can be safe in a few days, with zero incentive to continue queueing. That's why some of you new feasters don't get queues btw. it's not just because the mode sucks, it's cos we have nothing to play for, and if we had to play to maintain our spots not only is that out of SE's ethos for running this game, we would simply play the bare minimum requirement anyway so nothing would change.
It's like a repeated broken record now where I honestly get the impression you do care about the ranked mode else you wouldn't keep designing rewards for it, and you wouldn't have made the efforts you did with running the fanfest tournaments, but you actually do need to take some of the feedback on board at this point because this is a literal joke. FFXIV PvP especially ranked became a meme because you let it be one. You make it difficult on a daily basis for us to defend you and the existence of those mode when it lacks any real direction. A good example was 5.0. You literally had it almost perfect, all you had to do was make it so an LB in culling 1 wasn't essentially an entire range's HP bar and sort out silence being a pacify (the latter of which, remained a problem all the way through S14). Oh, and to fix Dancers, something you didn't do until this season - and they're still the strongest solo queue phys range.
You have a small dedicated following of MMORPG PvP enthusiasts, many from extremely competitive backgrounds that care. But by all means, ignore them again at your peril, because when cutoffs are becoming as low as the bottom end of Gold in NA and Chaos for the rewards, you may as well scrap the top 100 system entirely and just let people earn them for playing PvP because the concept of exclusivity doesn't hold weight when you neglect the mode so much so people who aren't veterans and know when and where to climb have no chance of earning them.
It's not even player skill related at this point. Before I could just play the "git gud" card; but they can't "get good" because for starters they don't even get games. We actually started an army of alts on Light this season so unranked players could still get games and we could hopefully get some of them gold so they could have a better shot at active queues, unfortunately, with no real MMR system guess what, our alts ended up in Diamond within a couple of weeks too. People catagorically cannot play this mode, and its makes the top 100 reward concept unfair on them too.
Sort the game mode out before you put another season in, season 14 was a classic example of poor communication. You brought it out "early" and then had the audacity to blame us for asking for it and said "Well we had changes planned but you're all desperate so here you go." No. If you had communicated to us why the season was delayed, pretty sure most of us would have been happy to wait. We had zero idea why we were in a long preseason, hence why we asked for s14.
This is long already and I promised myself I wasn't going to take any part of this forum section seriously anymore and betrayed myself, GGs.

Feels like they are trying to go for balance (and failing at it), when they should be focusing on fun first, then balance after. Start by making sure jobs have identities beyond their roles, poor tanks are all just a debuff and stun machine, with 15 sec and 60 sec defences for the team...

Well, I certainly think the removal of exclusive rewards will destroy it once and for all, as that's why a lot of people even continue to play it.
There's little to no vision, at least not a vocalized one. The most and best competition has always come from community-run events in this game and something tells me that will continue to be the case.
Balance seems to be going in the direction of the larger modes. I agree, 5.0 had some potential but they took a huge turn on that, and I have no true understanding as to what triggered their line of thinking.
They've rarely taken feedback collections from the forum seriously, and now even less so as more people are banned from these forums for garbage reasons. It's a terrible situation with no clear solution, because viable solutions here are not heard. -

Also guys if you can, contribute to the JP megathread please. They are saying the same we are mostly but it's more interactive, same situation, pvp needs to be more appealing to play. Dangling a small carrot on a stick won't cut it.

It seems also, judging by Kezzic's posts there that the JP players are happy to discuss and communicate with NA/EU players writing in google translated Japanese (you need to write in Japanese in their boards or your post gets removed) and they will respond clearly so you can translate it back. Chrome has a function that will allow you to translate pages into your native language automatically. -

It must be hard to have a vision for this mode because I can't imagine the guy(s) behind feast enjoys it himself nor plays it at a high level to test what really goes on because lately there's always been a job that completely outshines others, with the reworks getting worse each time i wish they stuck with what we had around FRC time when all jobs could be played effectively by different players and their play styles, you always had that amazing mch player or that awesome Sch who did very well it was interesting.
I expect more changes that don't make any sense nor fixes the issues with the mode but more a shift of power to a new op job like how drg is busted now and drk and dnc still being top safe picks. Let's not forget double healing down sch + drk oversight. Skill has gone out the window since around FRC time: The times when you had to fight for diamond and rating was active rather than highest achieved people just sit on low plat and call it a day which I don't blame them when the mode is so unfun and uninteresting.
The only way they could've fixed alot of issues was to make big changes, allowing for better server ticks and responsiveness, re-merged DCs, Better more unique skills that fit into the jobs playstyle like back in HW/SB. These changes require effort and resources which they simply wont put in so it's like what now? The feedback is all there but the implementation isn't, what more can you do its just a headache now and I personally don't care for a mode that doesn't care for itself, outside of the t100 rewards safe rating you may aswell be done because things aren't changing like they should be, we havent even got the old maps back yet for years because of apparently not being ready for the rework yet you can play them in customs and they work well with the 1st seasons map needing the bridges removed thats it... I could go on and on and get a headache but it isn't worth it, just get safe rating and call it a season honestly or stay in the cycle of "have they listened to feedback? No" "have they listened to feedback? Nope" "have they listened to feedback? NO!"
Hopefully s16 glam reward is going to be nice because I and many other's (Vet players included) determination to grind it out is at an all time low. :( -

I’ve been around for 3 expansions now, and I’m tired of the lack of development time getting spent on PVP after reading every patch note release. I understand PVE is this community’s niche, and honestly it’s the best PVE experience in an MMO right now, sans maybe niche aspects of other MMOS— but FF14 is definitely the most quality, accessible, and well rounded PVE MMO.Quote:

Yes, JP players have been very kind and courteous to me. I highly suggest taking your ideas and concerns to the JP forums in a constructive manner. It isn’t our turf, however they have been very hospitable. I feel like due to the high volume of traffic on their JP forums, Square is bound to pay more attention to those threads, so I highly encourage you guys to take your issues there in a polite, cordial, and subdued manner.Quote:
