Then again,1 gil is a petty amount.
When I undercut I do so by at least 1% of the lowest listing or simply list for the same price so my listing appears on top.

Well I mean honestly in the system where the only difference from crafting is high quality or normal quality undercutting will always happan its like real life walmart only surives by undercutting everyone else. The only way to really punish under cutters is to add in a quality system that isn't just hg or not hg thus people will always buy the higher "quality" that could have some kind of extra to them like 1% quality vs 55% quality even if the person undercuts you 15k-150k-1.5mill yours would still sell first due to quality of the creation.
Either that or give crafters a ability for each stat so if a character for example you are making a bow and you use_dex 4 times on it would get 40 dex on it or int etc this could really be the difference of what items people buy first.
So someone undercut you several times on the MB and you came here to cry. That's the kind of vibe I'm getting from this post. Being bitter and boasting about it doesn't foster any kind of discussion, just makes you look like a clown.
I also do this, though mostly because marketboard bots are more common then people might think and they resort to one gil undercuts by default so doing this deprives them of undeserved gil.
I play the market all the time, I don't mind if someone undercuts me.
I'm Just stating that a 1 gil undercut is superficial, but many will simply opt to buy whatever listing is at the top not because they save 1 gil, but merely because it's most convenient.
Of course you're welcome to have whatever opinion of me that you like, but I'd wager that if anyone has an apparent problem here it's you given the abrasive tone of your post.
It's better to undercut by 1 gil than thousands or millions. Most people that undercut by 1 gil only do so to put their listings to the top in order to maximize profit both in speed and amount without dragging the price ridiculously low ridiculously fast.
Sometimes it's a good move if you are tight on retainer space, but indeed, generally you should stay within a 1% profit band if you are doing so. People who massively undercut are often hurting both themselves and the market.
Though, for fast-moving goods, I recommend people price above the lowest sometimes. You'll still sell quickly, get more gil, and keep the value of that particular item higher. An example would be DoH/L materia or the new crafting materials right now.
I ignore listings if I don't like the retainer's name. At least to a certain point. I won't inconvenience myself but I'll spend a little extra.
