OK, I gotta vent. Are people stupid or... Stupid?

EDIT: THIS IS IN REGARDS TO THE CURRENT SITUATION. NOT WHEN PATCH 1.21 FIRST CAME OUT.

I keep getting the notion that since I'm a GSM50 that I make tons of money, and let me tell you... NO I'M NOT. You want to know why?

2 reasons:

1) Because making new jewelry is pointless since there's always 30+ items listed of the hot selling ones, and people undercut like crazy.

2) And second of all and the most important of the two reasons is: HQ jewelry is WORTHLESS because people STILL undercut like crazy even when there's 3 +1 rings listed...

So here's an example of WHY making +1 items and selling them is pointless:

I want to HQ a Zircon Ring +1 (Int +18). I buy 3x Electrum ores +1 for 50k each, and a zircon gem for around 30k. I begin the synthesis process and I freakin HQ the ring!!! Go over to the wards, and the Zircon Ring +1 sells for... 180k....

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Update edit: For people who are reading this topic for the first time. In short, it seems like don't bother to level DoH classes as getting the raw materials +1 as a DoL is the way to go to make money.

Which basically means, I WAS RIGHT.

I doubled my gil this patch...again...GSM 50 my only 50 craft.

Patience. Just throw it up at the Market Ward and wait a day or two. People will most definitely undercut you, but after those get sold, yours will sell as well. I only check one every other day and adjust prices if my things didn't sell.

Level your miner for the electrum ores and the raw zircon and that whole 180k you would get is all profit, if you buy the mats you are just asking to loose money.

You could always just give HQs to your friends and sell NQs :)

Can you guys at least see what I'm saying? Because what JackDaniels and Delsus said means EXACTLY what I am thinking. DoH are USELESS now. And the only saving grace is materia melding... Yet GSMs don't get much interms of that either.

Kamikaze, I thought like that as well, but I REFUSE to sell my ring +1 for anything less than 400k when it almost cost me 200k to make, and let me tell you this, I made that Ring +1 when the patch first came out, and till now, prices kept going down and not up and I wasn't able to sell it for more than 400k. It's not a matter of patience anymore.

Thing is, failing that synth would've cost me 200k, but I HQ'd it, and I plan to make my money back and then some, us DoH deserve at least that.

What you are saying is that you are lazy and cannot be bothered to lvl Miner, the people putting the rings up cheaper is prolly people who have miner leveled, then Electrum ore costs 0 gil, raw zircon costs 0 gil, make some zircons from the raw ones and the whole 180k you get is profit, they dont care how much they put the rings up then becuase the mats cost nothing.

Btw how much are NQ zircon rings on Lindblum?

Dude..level a DoL. DoH is not useless, but it is useless in terms of making money if you are buying overpriced mats. The price of electrum ore skyrocketed because of the patch, and *you* are buying that overpriced ore to make a finished product that is going to be severely undercut. Trust me when I say, the demand for ore is generally higher than the demand for finished products. As a result, ore prices will stay relatively stable, while finished products will go under rapid price swings. Why? Ore is needed for not just one accessory, but ALL accessories that use that ore. So you're talking a BUNCH of ore that every goldsmith like you wants so they can make their hq stuff. That means selling ore at a premium price because ppl like you will always buy it.

Now the flip side, you have goldsmiths now flooding the market with their accessories. Ppl dont need accessories nearly as bad as they need ore, so accessories get rampant undercuts. Dont buy ore until the demand subsides, and ore prices return to normal levels. In most cases, as in normal market conditions, buying mats and making finished products is very profitable. When the market inflates, however, its a bad idea. There can never be to much ore on the market, but there can easily be too many accessories.
