CUL Request
What is the official policy on alcohol in FFXIV?
On one hand, alcohol and its effects are regularly displayed. The healer role quest almost centered around it, and presented you with an opportunity to drink it. A CUL levequest brings up alcohol’s common use in Norvrandt.
On the other hand, many items in game seem directly censored. Chilled Red, a housing item featuring what is clearly a bottle wine, directly states that it is non-alcoholic.
I’ve closely followed the various CUL items’ descriptions looking for drinks in the game, and the only alcoholic consumable in game is heavenly eggnog - it explicitly states that it has a “healthy splash of rum”.
Crimson Cider and Frozen Spirits both have vague descriptions that could be interpreted as alcohol, but don’t state it explicitly.
Please, can we get some basic things like ale or wine? I’ve heard ratings are to blame, but it’s already so prevalent in the game.

We have wine and sherry as ingredients!
Since the german description of that wine-cooler clearly calls the wine by its name and makes no mention of it being non-alcoholic I dont think having alcohol for us to consume would be a huge problem?
Considering how alcohol is made, I'm not surprised that its not a cul-recipe - I know most of them arent excatly "realistic" in the way we prepare them within minutes but they're all things a chef would be able to cook or prepare. Wine and ale dont excatly match that description to me - even for the Chilled Red we dont actually make whatever beverage goes in there, we just put it on ice. (And the beverages the recipe calls for are juices - something one could make in a kitchen!)

There's a Sake Set and Cooking Sake as well, with no specific non-alcoholic mention.
