I'll preface this by saying I lost my temper in an instance and rightly received a warning on my account for this behavior. I agree that I was out of line one hundred percent.
On review of what a warning means, however, I am concerned with the permanent nature of such a warning.
Service accounts as old as eight years exist for the game if they played in 1.0, and five years if they began in 2.0.
I started my journey in 2.0 and this is the first infraction I have received in the five years my account has existed.
It is our duty as players to strive to be upstanding members of the community but I fear that over such incredible time spans one may lose their bearing or become overly frustrated and speak in a way to earn an infraction may only be normal for most people.
I would like to suggest that warnings placed on an account if they must remain permanent may weigh less against future blunders if sufficient time has passed between infringements, especially as the game continues to show signs of passing a decade in age or more.
I'm in no way advocating anything short, like giving someone a pass to speak like that every six months, but if one were to slip up once every couple of years it could lead to a complete account termination, in spirit of the much hated 'three strikes' law in some states of the US.

I would assume that you can get infractions over time and if they are all very minor spread out over years, you should be ok. If the violations are botting , clear cheating and hacking then maybe those are taken more serious when it comes time to decide weather to hand out a 1 day ban, a 7 day ban or a full or ban. People are imperfect and we make mistakes over years. There is a difference between having an honest bad day in game and being a troll or a routine cheater.

To be honest if there was a chance to use good behaviour to work towards having less of a punishment in future blunders, potentially this could be abused. It's better to just take the entire situation as a learning experience and know that it would never be acceptable again in the future, rather than thinking "oh i haven't been a jerk in over a year, it should be fine to be an ass just this once" yet again etc. It would be quite unfair to favour a player just because they have a legacy account, should a billionaire not get a full punishment if they break the law? They should as the rules are applicable to everyone, so the next time you are in a similar situation just take a step back or leave the instance is possible. Nothing else is worth the risk of further action.

If the game lasts for fifteen years can you honestly say someone who lost their temper just three times five years apart deserves a permanent account suspension for such a thing? It's not about trying to bank 'oh I can be an asshole one time' when the time period for forgiveness can start at say two years or more. I'm only asking that the GM team takes into consideration if the player is normally well behaved and just had a very bad no good horrible terrible day and snapped at someone.Quote:

My concern is that these are not warnings, these are tick marks where the third box gets you banned, no matter how minor the infractions and no matter how long has passed between mistakes. -

Very minor incidents spread out over time likely will get ignored by GMs unless they become repetitive to the point of being problematic, but for whatever reason, that GM didn't see whatever it was that you said or did as 'minor.'
