Are we still going to have the same gear shared between roles and no glamour?

3 healer and 3 tanks in the game. Is the endgame tomestone gear just going to be "of fending" and "of healing" again and the extremely limited glamour system we have, going to keep forcing us to choose just 1 job from those roles to have a unique look? The glamour system needs an overhaul in a game where so much of the content is sold to us with the line, "Well you can use it for glamours!". Let my Dark Knight look different from my Warrior already.

Fun fact, a glamour log would fix literally everything wrong with the glamour system.

Fun fact, if its still glamouring over an item, it wouldn't fix this issue.

a glamour set, on the other hand, would. Mixing glamour sets with the glamour log would make the best combination.

Separating the gear into class specific rather than role/stat specific stuff is kind of catch 22. Yes it's nice for more unique looks and such, but it also limits options quite significantly for progression raiders. If I start a progression stint as AST and then realise I would be better off on WHM, I'll be losing all of my left side tome pieces by doing so. This was a nuisance in Gordias progression, whereas for Midas I was free to use AST on certain turns and WHM on others without restricting myself on tome gear.

I'll definitely agree with the glamour log thing, things such as sheathed weapons and /visor are saved with our gear sets. I'm sure I can't be alone in thinking that having glamours stored with these gear sets as well would be incredible? =(

A basic catalog would fix inventory issues, but would literally do nothing to help with the issue the OP is talking about.

I wish this could be fixed as well, tie glamours to a job rather than a piece of gear, but they have stated in the past they would have to overhaul the system to do it which usually means it won't happen any time soon.

Yeah it'll need to be both because of how SE has the gear of "of three to four jobs group here". To reduce the amount of things being managed I think it would be nice if glamour was bound to the gearsets we already have, and you can have what like 40 of those? It would also mean if you switch weapons while you have a set active that it doesn't change the visual/theme, but you would need two or more sets if you wanted multiple themes for the same job. Because dye is bound into the glamour as well you'd only need to reapply stuff when you want to change your look, not because you got new gear :D.

I can't say how feasible this is since I don't know their code, but one idea would be altering the current glamour system so instead of glamouring over the gear we're wearing, we glamour onto the slot itself, which is unique per job. Basically, have it so glamour melding is attached to our jobs instead of the gear. That way, it wouldn't upset progression but allow people more options for appearance.

When people say "glamour log", many are referencing a fully fleshed out system that involves both storing item appearances as well as saving multiple outfit sets that one can switch between at will - a la Rift, WildStar, heck even WoW.

Can't imagine we won't have Stat/Role based gear in Stormblood. Reduces development costs with each new patch. But hey, maybe it'll get better. Maybe Caster DPS won't share appearances with Healers for a change. Still pretty sore we didn't get a Ramuh set for BLM/SMN but instead got Shiva, like the Healers.

I consider this to be something the game sorely needs. I have already put together my desired glamour for Red Mage, but it saddens me to think that, as long as gear is shared, I won't be able to use that outfit alongside the glamour I've put together for Summoner. Not to mention Black Mage which also had a unique look that I put on the shelf months ago in favor of Summoner.
