Sole Survivor
Nullifies the damage penalty inflicted by Grit.
Reduces damage taken by 8%
Can only be used when an ally falls in battle in Grit.
Duration: 20s-30s
Recast: 60s

Or

Sole Survivor
Nullifies the damage penalty inflicted by Grit.
Can only be used in Grit.
Duration: 12s
Recast: 60s

The current Sole Survivor leaves much to want compared to other abilities of the same tier for the other tanks. I think i've only used this ability twice in the past year.

Then you're either an extremely poor Dark Knight, or don't play the job enough to have used it more than twice in a year (in which case you're in no position to be making credible suggestions about the job, really). Neither scenario would surprise me.

Since the suggestion thread is here: Give us the ability to use it on allies as well. I was so looking forward to doing that but nooooooooooooooo, someone just screwed up while translating or whatever and we never could.

The name might be a little odd but despite it's longer cooldown it's often one of my favourite skills. All MP regen is welcome MP regen.

I use SS a lot although it's situational on if a weak enemy is about to die and I get the buff from it. I do wish it had a Dark Arts effect though. Maybe get rid of HP restore for 40% MP restore or something.

It's still a nice skill when used correctly. If only it shared the same cooldown as Mercy Stroke.

Sole Survivor isn't situational and I think its misleading to describe it as such. It should be used literally every time it is off cooldown and a mob is about to die. This means it should be used pretty much every two pulls in a dungeon, at least twice in any boss fight or raid with adds, etc... Its a regular part of DRK's MP management that anybody playing the job should use at every single opportunity.

Sephirot Ex - 2 (once per add phase)
A5S - 3-4 (snake, chimera, cyclops, pigs)
A6S - at least 4 times (once per boss)
etc. etc...

Just...no

Even if it was 100%/100% it would still be a clunky medicore skill. Its nothing compared to Equilibrium or Clemency.

Equilibrium has half the cooldown and restores 20% of warrior's main resource; which is like restoring 40% mana or a big chunk of health since we have so much mana restoration options already or a TON of HP on half the cooldown with no stupid situational key.

Clemency is Clem; don't underestimate it.

Whats funny is; the description and title of the spell does nothing associated with its name. It has nothing to do with being a Sole Survivor.

WAR doesn't have a TP Blood Weapon or Blood Price.

Also comparing Clemency and Sole Survivor is totally loaded, they do completely different things and have different costs (wait, Sole Survivor has zero cost, nevermind).

Exactly; which is why its so much less valuable. We have many ways of restoring Mana. However their primary resource regenerates much faster; so them getting 20% of it is huge in comparison. Us getting 20%? Its helpful; but not very useful.

Sole Survivor is refering to you; not your enemy. If it was your enemy; it wouldn't make sense because if you've won; you already regained all of your mana and health in the first place.

So; you pretty much proved my point. It is very situational; and reminds me greatly of the scholar's 60 ability.

Meanwhile; Warrior can pretty much use his in two different ways whenever he wants and restores a ton of his valuable resource. Since he doesn't really have any other way to restore it on a VERY short cooldown.

I am also pretty sure Clem/Equil (health) can also BOTH critical.

Its like comparing Parry to Critical Chance in value. Critical Chance is so much better its not funny.
