convert.
well i think you can still use them, but not overmeld.
They're basically going to be worthless. I mean, besides penta-melds, main stat materia was already pretty darned useless. You can never use it on anything which has the same stat, so accessories are literally the only items they're worth on. Vitality on main gear? Nope, accessories only. Strength on main gear? Not unless you're a ninja, a bard or a mage. Their usefulness was already dwindling, but without overmelds, they're almost as worthless as elemental material.
Welcome to 3.2.
Edit: To clarify my point, whilst yes you could in theory meld strength or vitality to that cuirass of awesome +1, it would give zero stat points, since most gear is already at or near the cap for that item with its default stats. The only exception is crafting/gathering gear.
Meld STR materia on HQ Vit accessories (if Vit is on cap), if you play as a tank.
Or safe them up for the chance that we need them for the relic quests again.
Mostly to stack on on Accessories: Vit on maiming, Str on fending, Mind on casting so on. However if they are going to limit main stat melds to only the available slots. What does that do to existing pentamelds with 4 or 5 main stats on a accessory with only 1 open slot and 4 hidden? I'm assuming the overmelds will be reduced to 0 but what would that mean to the potency of secondary stats in the future and does piety count as a secondary?
Hold onto them in case you need them for the relic quest.
If you think main stat materia will be worthless in 3.2 then by all means give all your spares to me :)
