Healing A1 Faust Normal: What's most healer's strategy?

So, strange question about a pretty non-consequential fight, but does anyone else do strategy for A1 Faust?

This week getting my drop from A1 Story Mode, I was greeted with a lot of toxicity for splitting up heals between the MT/OT between healers. Healer A on Tank A, Healer B on Tank B, ideally never having to overlap our heals so that both of us (White Mages) could effectively do DPS + healing on our specified target.


The white mage acted astounded at the idea of splitting heals, stating that it "Wasn't required for this fight" and that it was a waste of time.

The bard decided to take it personally, saying it was the stupidest thing he'd ever heard, and that likewise he as a main healer would never split it up like that because "If tank B is at 10%, are you not going to heal him?"

So I'm hoping for some clarification - is this strategy overthinking it? Is there a more optimized strategy that people tend to use? I would welcome any advice/thoughts on this, as I only do healing on my alt - not my main. c:

One healer heals, other healer attacks...same for Savage, healer on dps duty helps if things go tits up.

Think the bard took the splitting tanks thing too literally though, when you split tanks you still assist with each others when needed.

Yeah in Alex normal there's no need to split. Generally speaking one healer can handle all of A1 Normal solo. You don't want to split heal anyway because it's always safe to assume that any co-healer you get in DF will be absolutely incompetent. I solo healed A2 when the SCH decided they wanted to drive, and I solo healed A3 when the other WHM was a complete tit. It's all doable.

There is no need to split tanks in Alex 1 normal, the damage isn't that intense that you would need to, even with DF players unless you have really bad DDs.

In fact, I've never split tanks in any part of Alex Normal. It's rather common for "one healer heals, the other does damage," however. Just have the other healer switch to healing if you have the aforementioned bad DDs and tons of adds.

Pretty much this on the nose. Decent gear availability now means that solo healing Faust is fairly easy (if the OT can corral the adds properly so you don't lose rhythm and have to heal yourself). I believe A2 can be solo healed as well, but assigning tanks for that fight (while allowing for healing overlap, because to not is asinine) allows for a more laid back and relaxing healing position since that can go to pot with a snap of the fingers.

You can definitely solo heal Alex 2 and 3 with a decent group, at least as a WHM. The mobs at the very start of both areas are really the most healing-intensive part.

If anything, there's not nearly enough communication about this in DF, though. Some of the damage dealing healers in DF just don't leave Cleric Stance, ever, or watch the other healer's MP, or even ask if the other healer is comfortable solo healing the fights. I feel like some people are so focused on damage (in Alex normal, of all things at this point) that they do forget they are healers, too.

You have to remember that some ppl doing raids want to continue doing the same mechanics as in savage /stupid idea/. I solo tank in AS1 Faust, yet u won't see me yelling on the other tank cuz they are taking the adds off me lol.

U don't even need one of the healers dpsing Faust since in normal it is easy. DPS can kill it at least their DPS suck that much that they need a healer as a dps.

Regardless of if it was used or not, there was nothing wrong with what you suggested and it works fine.
You were trying to communicate with the other healer for a smoother run.

Quite frankly the other healer and the bard acted like a pair of jerks and you should put them out of your mind.
A simple 'I'd prefer it if we both watch every party member' would have sufficed.

I always just DPS as Scholar whatever floor of Alex Normal I'm in. I don't have to drop out of Cleric Stance on Faust. Then again, I usually do Alex Normal in a premade with my raiding static so YMMV. If you DF it and have an incompetent healing partner, you'll have to heal. Ideally one tank should be taking all the damage, but a lot of DF groups split it up where one tanks Faust and the other tanks the adds. There's nothing wrong with either strat because the DPS check isn't very steep here. That bard was an idiot so ignore whatever he said. Splitting heals can be beneficial just to make sure that you have a healer focused on each tank. It doesn't mean you don't help out with the other one. I'm honestly kinda surprised he wasn't upset about the tanks splitting up the mobs. :p

Honestly, if I were queueing in DF I'd be happy just to get someone that's actually communicating strat instead of the usual '......' that you get from everyone, followed by a shitfit when things inevitably go to hell.

Divine Seal, Regen main tank.

DPS, DPS, DPS, main tank dies.

Cure bomb the dragoon to victory.
