Too Early For Me To Decide.

I'll need to digest this new patch and the direction Yoshi-Peezy is going to take with the game. From just scratching the surface, it looks like soloing guildleves around your level is hard, fighting mobs take longer (not more difficult, but more time consuming), but chopping wood hasn't really changed much, it seems.

It looks like I'll be chopping wood for a while until I get used to the new system in place. I see a lot of people crying foul, but let's grind it out a bit. See what they're really up to. It's too early to jump to conclusions.

Everybody is so bitchy right now it killing the fun I want to have in this game. People left and right talk about the gear change like its do or die and worth ragequitting over and I can't stand it. Let's just have fun with this patch, and like the OP says ride the storm, grind it out for a bit. People hate change so much its astonishing. The game has the chance to become better now and people bitch.

Not saying I'm not worried about materia just being the same 10% of crafters making money, but maybe I should just level up my craft and become one of those 10%.

I love your signature Stockapotapoulos. I hate the anti-intellectual nature of this country too. Being smart is like "omg you think you're better than everyone else because you read books and know big words, and go to college" when really that does make me better. Stupid stupid stupid. Maybe it'll change, I mean no one wants to be like France but the French are like "how can someone in the U.S. not strive to be an intellectual", easy I guess, but I don't understand it either. Something about the freedom in this country gave a waitress the right to judge someone for reading and it baffles me.

To be fair, the people crying foul are in the minority. They're just being louder and more frequent.

Most of the people are enjoying the patch, you just don't see them because they're too busy having fun in game rather than posting here. Heck, the only reason I'm here is 'cause I'm at work. I will not be able to get home fast enough once 4:30 hits.

Ooo, my sarcasm sense is tingling.

Don't misunderstand. I posted this to get people to possibly post some initial impressions about the patch. I figured posting in some thoughts will get others to do the same.

I don't really think combat is slower. It's slower if you don't think about what you're doing at all and WAAAAAAAAAAAY faster if you do. You also have to realize that pretty much no one has a real materia set at this point which is going to speed it up even more.

I suppose you're right about the materia part. Guess we'll have to see.

As far as fighting a mob, I'm not sitting there twiddling my thumbs watching my guy thwack at the mob. I'm still active (using skills when my TP allows me to, healing when I'm getting low on HP, etc). Basically, what I was doing then, I still am doing now. And it felt like I was fighting a mini-boss. A L6 Gladiator fighting a L4 Chigoe felt like a mini-boss fight!

Anyway, like you said, it could have something to do with the materia. Or the gear. We'll see what happens when all that stuff gets implemented.

i was out for a run in the desert when i saw a mob 5 lvl's higher than me. "i'll take him on" i thought. i died. a few seconds later a kind traveler came along and brought me back to life. i learned two things. one that mob is hard and i best not attack it any more. and two there are still kind souls out there. this experience has not made me want to quit. just rethink what i'm attacking from now on
