Fun Story Conspiracies
In Final Fantasy IV, there are two moons, one of which is the Red Moon, is an important location. It is actually a planet near the Moon, and home to the Lunarians, the race to which Kluya, father of Cecil and Golbez, belongs. Cecil, after losing all the Crystals to Golbez, goes into the Moon via the Lunar Whale - a ship made by Kluya - that allows one to travel through space. The Red Moon is also home to the God of Eidolons, Bahamut, and the Hummingway tribe.
Is this the same moon that we see in Eorza? And why does this Red Moon getting bigger bring on Moon Mice and Moon Jewelery?

Thats not fun D: That's just dumb ;\

.... I was working my way through FFIV and now the story has been ruined for me.... RUINED I SAY! >:O
j/k
I think the big red moon Dalamund is some sort of uber nasty meteor that's coming down to roflpwn Eorzea. The thing with the moon mice is they're being controlled by the rat king (who has something to do with dalamund I'd imagine) and basically all hell is gonna break loose at some point.
The whole Dalamund meteor thing makes it easier to do the Eorzea reshaping that's being planned as it'd have a story to go with it instead of just "oh well y'know one day everything suddenly changed for no apparent reason!".
At least that's what I think it was... it was mentioned in another thread earlier this week anyways.
Also if you talk to the guy in Ul'dah that keeps shouting about Dalamund being red he explains why the moon mice have the moon jewellery.

Yeah, the mice have the moon jewelery because they stole it. But why would the Moonlets look like this...
