ARR Moba???
Just wanted peoples thoughts on an idea i had. With the popularity of moba games such as LOL, DOTA and the lack of pvp in ARR how would people feel about SE taking the jobs and implementing them into a moba-like game within the gold saucer? Would you play it?

Tat wud require a lot of resources...and it would be a very risky bet. It could either go very well or very wrong. Imo, the latter...keep in mind the natural delay this game has (due to Canadian servers), mobas are always very reflex based...you take that away from a moba and there's nothing much left, and given this FFXIV natural delay a MOBA wouldn't make much sense. Why do you think Wolves Den turned into a graveyard? Because it was pretty reflex based...that and the fact that good teams would trash the majority of people playing casually (which are most of the people playing this game). They turned PVP into a killfest with zero skill where your actions matter very little (well...the flag mode one is still ok...but that second mode is terrible), and it's having much more success...so go figure if people are fond of adding competitive stuff in this game.
Also, people come to FFXIV running away scared from all the flame and toxicity from mobas such as LoL or Dota (especially LoL), not sure if implementing a moba minigame would be the right idea.

Uuuhm Isn't that basically what frontlines is?

I can see it now. Moogles Only Battle Arena. Whiskerwall pushing mid, Pomburner farming woods, Ruffletuft failing to hold top tower.
But no, too many companies are spamming out Mobas right now, and a lot of them are just burning money trying to attract an audience that is already enamored by the big two. Even Blizzard is neglecting their successful properties to try and grab the moba audience. I don't want to see FFXIV cut off its foot to try and use it as bait for people who are busy playing other games.
If it was something small and simple, perhaps menu based like triple triad, then maybe that would be fine. But to simulate anything like LoL or Dota would require a whole lot of new tech in terms of linking players together. If they are going to put that much effort into something, I would prefer it be for a large open-world mechanic.

I would rather see them implementing more deep pvp map with moba-like mechanics. Enemies would have to destroy turrets, destroy some core in castle to win and for points you would be able to buy some upgrades (would reset every fight).
