Can this be a thing yet? We can already change the colours of pretty much everything like friends and even alliance members, so why not FC members? Makes it easier to spot people.

Good suggestion. I've taken to friend requesting every FC member, but this is a tedious workaround (and only works if you have way less than 200 active members). :/
Also, the tag doesn't help with fast recognition in a crowded area. Besides, tags aren't unique. ><
