I know that Aetherytes are costly to put up lore wise but the high congestion to get into Gold Saucer makes it also extremely hard to get into Chocobo Racing because it is gated through Gold Saucer.
I just want to race chocobos and spending 5 minutes spamming the teleport to Gold Saucer can get extremely annoying when you also go through the cast time to teleport.
Give it a week or two (if that), and things will be died down enough that the aetheryte won't be needed anymore.
Honestly by the time they could impliment it, the need would already have been gone.
To be honest with you I can't see the chocobo racing dying down any time soon, if at all. It is very much a long term investment due to the breeding aspect as well as the ranking/rating system. Not too mention it is also very competitive, the more time you spend there the better your chances are of getting ahead of other players.
Yeah i don't think SE realised how popular chocobo racing would become,even in its somewhat dumbed down(maybe wrong terminology,lacking features may be more apt) state...they need to expand on it now!
One thing that helped me is I have my characters wife sit in Chocobo Square so I can use the Eternity Ring to bypass Gold Saucer, and if she wants to leave I just camp in there so she can come back.
They should just make chocobo queues available in DF. Then you don't need to go there to enter. Or setup some more NPCs around the world(I'd say in each zone where a track is there should be an NPC you can go to and queue from there). Would reduce congestion - and I think people would be happy since they could play TT in that zone with NPCs there while waiting for racing queues.
