But seriously, no, I don't think there is.

Melding to a high quality item will have a slightly higher success rate then melding to a normal quality item. And melding low level materia has a slightly higher success rate than melding high level materia.

But other than those factors, there's currently no way to increase the overmeld success rate.

Would be nice if there were meals / potions that increased this, similar to the ones that boost desynthesis...

If there ever will be such a thing implemented.. look to find it in the cash shop, for $25 dollars per potion ^_^, that lasts a whopping 30 seconds =D

I would NOT want to see it in the cash shop.

They've managed, technically, to avoid selling power in their cash shop. And only technically, because retainers ARE power - in the form of more selling space, more storage space, and more goodies coming back from Ventures - they're just sold from a booth right outside the front door of the cash shop rather than from inside the cash shop.

This sort of potion would be another form of player power. As such it has no business being in a cash shop if the intent is that the cash shop only have cosmetics and zero player power. They've stated they do not want to sell power in their cash shop. They should probably stop selling the two extra retainers then, but they most definitely should not sell such a potion.

If anything, alchemy or brewing to craft it.

People being all jaded and stuff in this post. If they do release a potion that boosts melding chance, it'll be in the GC Shop and Alchemy recipe list.
