2nd Garlean Invasion {Story discussion}

Story discussion so expect some spoilers...

On that Note:

How long do you think Garlean Empire will strike Eorzea once again?

So far the 2.X story has hinted on 3.0 focus on the Dragon War but it has also hinted on the threat of another Garlean Invasion in 3.0 or 3.X era.

I'm going to swing a bat here and say that we may face the 2nd Garlean Invasion in 3.0 as the final part of the story which will end with a final battle with Omega Weapon (which is said to have powers that rival Bahamut.)

We may even take back Ala Mhigo from the Garlean empire using our own Personal Airships we will be getting in 3.0 as a method to getting into Ala Mhigo.

Heavensward will probably involve us resolving the Ishgardian war to get Coerthas into the alliance, or come after they enter the alliance (We help them with their burdens, they help us with ours type deal). Regardless I don't see anything happening in terms of Ala Mhigo anytime soon, adding a region like that in an expansion that has basically been advertised as nothing but Coerthas, Coerthas, and Dragons would be a bit of a surprise. In terms of the Garleans, it's too early to say in my opinion. I do agree that if we see any actual action from them it would likely not be until the end or at least mid-way through the 3.X series. Though their number 1 concern has always been controlling the primals, if more summonings ala Shiva's take place they may be more inclined to speed up their efforts as was hinted in this patch's story.

Maybe with 4.0 we go northeast

Isn't it the 4th invasion actually? ( 1st is the Agrius, second is the meteor project, third is Gaius' invasion )

Depends on your definition of invasion. What Gaius did now was pretty low scale compared to Nael van Darnus's attack.
Do you think it is possible that Varis will come to Eorzea to personally adress the city state leaders? Would be a nice little gesture. And it's not like he has any prominent generals to use as Nael, Gais, Livia and Rhytatin are dead, and Nero pretty much went rogue.

ya the past 3 invasions was more 1 invasion.

Gaius started the Invasion with Ala Mhigo and continued into Silver tear lake which ended with a halt to the invasion due to the destruction of their Flagship. Then he continued where he left of with Nael's help but it ended with the calamity causing him to lose more of his forces. Then he finally continued where he left off after the Calamity in 2.0 only to finally be defeated and his conquest of Eorzea finally stopped.

In the end it was just 1 single invasion but with time gaps to recover due to constant loss of their forces which resulted in the small amount of forces they had left in 2.0. Due to the lack of forces, using what was left of his dying army, and lack of support from the Empire Gaius only chance of conquering Eorzea was all thrown into Ultima Weapon which failed in the end.

However, with the new Emperor now in Garlean Empire it may not be long for him to strike Eorzea with a greater force since in 2.0 our character only faced was small due to the lack of support from the Empire with the War of Succession happening during that time.
