Scholar or White Mage?
So I picked my server and rolled up a Conjurer. Was really torn over Arcanist though.
As I understand I need to get Arcanist levels too, to become a White Mage.
If I change my mind later and want to go Scholar, can I do that, or am I tied to White Mage by picking Conjurer as my starting class?
I read some threads about WHM vs Arc...but am just really torn haha. Also I'm not quite clear on how the leveling up different classes impacts your final job.
Thanks much for any guidance.

You can change to any class or job in the game on any character. If you want to switch to Scholar you can with no repercussions.
Conjurer needs Level 15 Arcanist to become a White Mage.
Preferably up to Level 34 Arcanist for Eye for an Eye, and Level 26 Thaumaturge for Swiftcast, but the only actual requirement is Level 15 Arcanist.

The rule of thumb in this game is: You can do virtually everything with zero repercussions. Stat choices, job choices, relic weapons, Grand Company allegiance, buying a house...all of these things can be undone. Some of them cost more time and money to undo, but they can all be undone.
Changing your class is literally as easy as putting a different weapon in your hand. :)

Also, don't be so torn!
I leveled up WHM first before I ever touched SCH and even then only leveled it for completion's sake. I wasn't a huge fan of it while leveling it but I fell in love with it after I started to use it in more endgame situations.
Leveling one healer only lets you understand how amazing the other can be at the same time. Don't ever feel like you're stuck on one job in a specific role. Enjoy the job you're currently leveling and then switch around at a later time.
The debate on WHM vs SCH is silly. Both jobs have their uses and both jobs can be done amazingly when put in the right hands.
Level the job you want, even if that means dumping off WHM temporarily for ARC. Have fun with it!

Thanks so much! These replies greatly reduce my normal class choice anxiety I usually suffer in mmos! ;)

All of the classes are also really balanced in this game. No dungeons really have a "No Monks allowed" taboo, etc. So as long as you're learning how to best fill the shoes of the role you're currently playing (which is another great point of the game: each job really plays and feels different from each other), you'll be absolutely fine. Don't be at all afraid to be "going down the wrong path," or "choosing an underpowered job," or what have you.

As what people said, you'll never find a full party (8-ppl, so 2 healers) that only wants two of the same healing class, ideally.
I main SCH but I'm also levelling CNJ to pick up Stoneskin right now. These two classes are so synergistic when played well.

Sorry for the double post but whichever one you choose you'll want Thaumaturge level 26 for Swiftcast. A real game saver.
