War/Mrd pvp advice

I'm only talking about Frontlines here, I don't really bother with Wolves Den. I normally run about as a white mage but I've been finding that kind of boring the past few times. This being said I decided to switch things up.

War/Mrd might not be the best choice but it is one of the main three classes I normally play so I have a good understanding of the skills and what they can do. Also I keep saying War/Mrd because I swore I read somewhere that Mrd was the better choice to put out more damage.

Any advice is welcome >-< I'm assuming my first step is getting some dps accessories (well better ones).

you are correct. don't be that guy stacking vit. a vit mrd/war (and pld) is a useless and gimped mrd/war (and pld) because the output isn't there; a healer will just heal through vit mrd/war output. since tanks are at the very bottom of the kill priority list, you won't be getting hit anyways. and if you are getting hit, that most likely means you are either the last man standing or your healer has died and you're all dead anyways if you don't retreat. your goal should be doing as much damage to your targets as possible before you lose your flag or before your own healer(s) get overwhelmed and die. you're pretty much a dps.

Yeah I remember that, also that the pvp gear is pretty worthless as well in Frontlines. I've tried going in as Summoner and dragoon before and they were enjoyable but I kind of wanted to try my hand as the main class I'm use to playing. Would it be better to go in as Mrd instead of having the soulstone? I'd seen this up for debate whenever people get into a heated discussion about it when one or the other is in the party.

i've never played mrd/war so i don't know the specifics of the classes but i have friends who do who are consistently high on the damage meters and kills while playing either class. from what i see personally i think its just one of those things that looks good on paper but may not always turn out as one expects every single time when executed because of the player's playstyle and their decision-making when put in certain situations. i would say don't pick the class that has the highest dps, play the class that you're most comfortable with and the high dps will come as you adapt to it.

maybe some more experienced mrd/wars can chime in for more specific direction on the classes.

From what I understand the main advantage Marauder has over Warrior is a lack of useless and semi-useless skills: Defiance is a pretty hefty damage penalty for enough hp to survive a caster lb and generating Wrath is fairly unreliable compared to doing so in PvE, Unchained allows you to fight as if you did not have Defiance up making it a wash, and due to Wrath's unreliability Inner Beast and Steel Cyclone are mostly on a one or the other 60s timer through Infuriate.

In comparison Marauder can have: Straight Shot which gives you the same effect a 5 Wrath stacks in one GCD, Raging Strike for +20% damage every 3 minutes, Blood for Blood for +10% damage even 80s, and Invigorate for an additional 400 TP every 2 minutes.

I won't and can't say that I am in anyway the best WAR on the field in FL. I can say it is fun out lasting 2 MNKs and a PLD in a 3 on 1 fight because I had Defiance on. A lot of people will tell you MRD is better for it, I just don't see it.

By the way, play the job/class you want. Don't let someone tell you what you should play.

I use MRD when I am in Team B (for burst using archer cross skills and swift+stoneskin) and use WAR for Team A/C (Defiance & Abilities). MRD has more burst whereas WAR has more sustain. But I'm not optimally geared for either. So I can see a WAR dishing out way more than normal.

Skills that rock: Raging Strikes, Internal Release, Straight shot, Stoneskin

Best pvp axe imo is the Wave Axe. Unless you get a Novus with det/crit. And most of your gear should be det/crit with some skill speed.

Sadly I haven't had the free time to test one or the other myself but I was reminded just the other day that one of my best weapons is War only haha... the next best one I'd have is a Ilv 77 (the luck with drops is not with me on the primals). I do plan to test things and play around with both just to see what I can come up with. would love to post some feedback on it. There isn't really much as far as pvp goes.. so at the least I could list some pros and cons of both instead of being don't go this route do this instead. Unless of course one vastly is superior to the other.
