just hit level 50... what now?

do i have to play through the story to unlock raids or something? is there level 50 versions of the former dungeons? whats the best way to obtain the gear for these things?

Congrats on starting the game :)

Generally you are going to want to start gearing. Either ak or wp farming mainly which you can unlock in vesper bay I believe. Get tomes for armor. Then you can do a relic reborn for your relic weapon. Then....progress to lost cities. And other extreme dungeons for next tier of tomes and armor. Also upgrade relic further.

what is "ak" or "wp"?

Amdapor Keep and The Wanderer's Palace.

Yes you need to do the story and the side quests to unlock most 50 content. Some of it is progressive, have to have done the Aurum Vale quest to get Amdapor keep. You finish the job quests and cam start you relic weapon as well.

Take it real slow cuz since a lot of people you'll be playing with will have i90-i110 gear, you'll breeze through dungeons / content.
They nerfed a lot of the old 50 dungeons. Primals hm have echo now, and you have a lot of ways to gear up now easily via dungeons or trading in tomes.
So really, if you want content to last then i suggest you take it slow and easy and just enjoy the fresh 50 as later on you'll be joining us in the never ending forums of gear treadmills and "there's no content left.. So borrrrrred" . I still have a few more stuff to try/ do so i'm not worried about burning out fast.

Also try and rank up a grand company to 2nd lieutenant alongside. The benefits will begin to trickle in the more you progress.

Get your relic ( HM primals )
Save the myth tomes and buy yourself some i90 and use the sol tomes for i100.
Equip and DL or dungeon loot u come across from.
Do these dungeons:
-amdapor keep for relic
-wanderer's palace ( optional )
*-pharos sirus ( optional )
*-copperbell hm ( optional )
*-hakkuke manor hm ( optional )
**-halatali hm ( optional )
**-brayflox hm ( optional )
**- lost city of amdapor ( optional )
** = expert roulette
* = high roulette i think

Finish the main story quest line.

Start working on your Relic Weapon.

You need to have a certain ilvl just to enter some of the dungeons.
