Something interesting about Jalzahn

One of the NPCs involved in Zodiac weapon upgrades is named Jalzahn.

From the update note text:

"A Far Eastern alchemist named Jalzahn has journeyed to Eorzea. His sole objective: the creation of mighty weapons that would rival even those wielded by the heroes of eld."

In Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urghan, Aht Urghan is called "the Far East". It's so far east, in fact, that it is completely off of the original FFXI world map, having one of its own. The reward for completing the main scenario questline is a choice of 3 rings from the Empress, each named after a heroic figure of Aht Urghan lore. One of these rings is called "Jalzahn's Ring".

The help text on Jalzahn's Ring says:

"This ring was worn by Jalzahn, former Emperor, noted marksman... and my dear father."


I just thought it was an interesting little tidbit. Probably tossed in by the dev team as a wink to any FFXI players that might be paying attention.

Raubahn is also named after the Blue Mage from XI, and his sword is Tizona (the BLU mythic weapon).
