Abilities and Addition Benefits

I've been tossing this idea around for some time now, but I'm still not sure now is the time to present it. So I figure, why not open it up to some discussion.

Abilities are undergoing an overhaul, for sure, but how about making equipping different types of abilities more enticing. Hence, I reference Blue Mage from FFXI. I assume most are familiar with it, but BLU spells each carried a stat bonus if you equipped that specific spell. Now, I'm not saying assign such bonuses to each and every ability in FFXIV. That would be nothing short of cumbersome, I imagine. But how about working in special Job Traits a la FFXI, obtained by equipping certain ability combinations.

I do hope this is something that happens down the line, as I certainly don't expect something quite so intricate right now. It definitely can't happen before class re-balancing is finished. That being said, BLU's job trait mechanism was one of the most interesting things I've seen come out of an MMO that I've played. So...

I never thought about that kind of idea before (never played BLU ... or even unlocked it :/ ) but what you're saying would be an awesome idea. And maybe not only give you special attributes, but what if combining certain abilities in the same action slot gave you a unique ability ... like (going on just the Armory system now) combining Provoke and Taunt to make a stronger Provoke, or combing a weapon skill like Howling Vortex with a magic spell augments that weapon skill with the type of the spell such as Fire, or if it already has a Fire augmentation then it makes it stronger. Just some ideas, not fully thought out of course ^.^

This is actually a pretty good idea, one that promotes the idea of creating one's own unique character.
