Manaward in Ultima HM?
I try to use blm shield spells during big attacks to see which ones might work in battles. I noticed that when I use manaward in Ultima HM, I take no damage when stacking for the three laser ball phases. Has anyone else tried this or know if it really works? Just trying to see if there is another strategy to doing this fight, like using a blm as a suicide runner to take out 1 or 2 of the balls rather than relying completely on a tank LB.

Good idea, never tryed that. If it works, this could change this hell of a phase as a joke with 2 BLM ^^

I usually will pop Manaward if I get Eruptions following me (if I don't get targeted, I tend to hang by the tanks and can avoid it). People tend to run around randomly when they have it, so the paths tend to cross and Manaward helps a lot.
It is also really helpful after a Boom when popping orbs. While I haven't tried it yet, it may be possible to solo-pop an orb with Manaward on. EDIT: This would apply to the first two Booms...I don't think you have enough HP to survive solo-popping any of the third ones even with Manaward.

I use that all the time, it work.
but keep in mind that it only give you shield = 30% of you max HP, so 1000-1500, assuming you i90 it will give you total of 5.5k ish. that about the same as full DL PLD .

It works, doesn't nullify all damages though. In one of my run, the tank jumped the trigger and use LB2 on second set of balls so on the third set, I and one other BLM popped Manaward with LB1 and eat all 4 orbs, 2 each. Killed the two of us but got everyone else alive and we won afterwards.

I know it won't mitigate all damage from the attack, I'm just looking for new ways to do things. There seem to be options in various dungeons and primals but people stick with the same thing over and over. My belief this is why a lot of people get bored quickly. Granted, the scripted fights do force you into doing certain things, but I have greatly enjoyed groups that didn't do the "standard" routine to see if we could get through a battle or dungeon by finding alternatives.
