Pet hotbar will not disable

Time: Just noticed January 6 8:20pm
Frequency: All the time
World name: Cactuar
Character name: Egwene Al'vere
Class/Level: Scholar level 50
Party or solo: Both
Steps:

Tried going to Character Config>Hotbar settings>Cross and unchecking "Use Pet Hotbar". The pet hotbar did not disappear.

Tried entering HUD layout menu, clicking then right clicking to disable the pet hotbar. This did not work either.

I don't see how system specs will be relevant to this issue but:

i5-2500k @3,3 GHz
ATI Radeon HD 6850
16GB ram
Windows 7 home premium
