In my opinion the biggest problems with ARR are as follows
There is no sense of accomplishment to me . I have done Garuda X , CT , Coil all have small learning curve and after 2 tries your done with it other then to mindlessly FARM the areas over and over again . Then you are given an item that replaces an item you just got like 6 hours ago . Oh look i just got my DL body .... ( enter CT ) Ohh look i just got my body piece .... ( wasted all my stones on a body ) But i got a better body .
Crafting ..... Whats the point if your being given gear like candy on Halloween . Save gil for some gear or run a dungeon 5 times for better gear hummmmm idk what will i do .
Gathering ...... Again with everyone undercutting everyone and the crafting how it is whats the point in the effort .
Housing ... We all know this is total garbage with the prices .
The only good thing the music and story ....When you read it .
Why did SE make this soooooooo i dont even know the word to use casual maybe , Or so hand out like . I keep playing because of friends if my friends did not play i think i would have quit already . Am i wrong ? Do you feel the same ? Comment

the game is in its infancy.. and although i cannot confirm it cos i wasn't there, i believe FFXI had even less to do at its launch..
the only problem i find with the game is FATEs and how fast they level people, giving us thousands of players who don't know their job at 50 -

What you are getting at basically is the difference in MMORPG games today and how they use to be years ago before WoW. The term "theme park MMO" is to describe the MMOs of today, as they are fast moving with progression, content and tend not to make players need a group to progress until end game content. Game developers have discovered higher profit with this model and in some games F2P models yield higher profit for them then when they were subscription.
I play because of the brand. I am a fan of Final Fantasy, and enjoy it's universe. I played FFXI for years since it's PS2 release in the US, and I remember the utter brutal nature of the game. I can look back on that time with fond memories. I found friends in that game I have kept even to this day. But that feeling of accomplishment you mention? I rarely saw it over several years. Now granted, it really meant something to finish something in FFXI, because it took you so damn long to get to it. I just don't have that time anymore. And I would never go back to that type of game.
You'll be hard pressed to find a modern MMO that is produced in that type of hardcore setting, there is a reason for that. Hardly anyone would play it, and a company wouldn't produce it because of that. -

so you complain cause arr gives hand outs because it's too casual friendly but then you complain that you don't want to grind content to get hard to get items?
