Melee or Ranged? which route for endgame opinions

So I got a Dragoon to 30 and lately reading the forums it sounds like I should maybe stop and level as ranged due to current game mechanics.

So I am wondering would it be worth my time to reroll ranged or stick with melee? That is my biggest question.

Then I would just need to figure out what I want to play more...BLM or SMN. I heard pet management sucks and is clunky atm regarding SMN. So any insight or thoughts about pets would be nice.

Also curious about what makes BRD so popular however, I am not really considering this class.

Just play a bard. Enjoy being king of the game. You will trounce all others with ease while keeping everyone's mana / tp bars full and ignoring boss mechanics. It's literally god mode. Thank me later.

As far as fun goes I've leveled all the classes to 15. I liked the feel of the ranged I listed and usually like to play both melee and caster. So it's really just a matter of which to work on more atm. So that I can have fun at 50 and level the other as time permits.

Bard is the Easiest DPS to play. It also comes with some benefits to your party/raid, that are much better in 8 man content than in all the 4 man content you have to do to get there.

Blm / Smn are great choices, you're ranged so you can take it a bit easier with evading and targeting. Blm has strong burst, Smn's DOT damage is AMAZING

Mnk / Lnc both are very strong DPS but as a melee you probably won't have 100% up time, or 100% in "sweet spot". Both bring a lot to mid and late game, and even End game although they take more coordination to execute well.

Ya I have been having a hard time trying to decide between SMN and BLM.
